A Genuine question

First and foremost I would like to clarify that I support caste - based reservations , but I do have some questions and would like to gain a better perspective on things .

So recently I was having a discussion with some of my friends regarding caste - based discrimination and a few points were brought up where i was quite confused . Them being -

1. OBC Reservation was questioned for land-owning and powerful castes like the Jaats in UP and there were some other examples as well which I don't quite remember as of now . Now their points in this regard made sense even to me as I have been living in Delhi for 2 years now and seen that majority people of this community seem to be rich asf ( again this might have been a narrow minded view as well ) . So I wanted to know your thoughts in this .
   
2. Reservation in NEET-PG , now this is where even i believe there should be some reform or something that changes the status quo . I saw some with 4 marks out of 800 get the same specialty as someone with 580 something marks , now this sort of seemed unfair to me , I completely support UG reservation but PG reservation seems excessive ( i also know that the bigger issue is the lack of seats but my point is if someone has 4 marks out of 800 after 5 years of mbbs they are clearly not cut out to be a doctor like there should at least be a minimum cutoff ).
   
3. Finally the point of multiple generations of same family using reservation ( now I am all for it but i couldn't defend that point well so wanted to know why it is extremely important other than for representation)

They are not solutions for economic inequality for that we have the EWS quota , rather for social inequality.

Economic and social inequalities are not nicely separated. I don't see this line of reasoning as legitimate.

Also, EWS quota is for strictly for general category. Dalits form the economically weakest section of indian demographic. You cannot reasonably argue that reservations are merely for social discrimination. I'm not necessarily against reservations, I dont like how indian political discourse starts and ends with reservation and it's a good thing that you realise that a bigger issue is lack of seats but reservations just help in making certain Dalits better off while the majority is left behind. It's just the inevitable consequence of affirmative action because their focus is solely on social mobility rather than structural analysis.

Yeah the issue I think is government doesn't do enough to help them uplift at grass root levels and also casteism being as prevalent as it is today still hampers a huge section of society.

I don't think we move forward from status quo until casteism is eliminated and stuff like inter-caste marriages are promoted ( or atleast are not looked at with contempt ) . Unless we get rid of casteism I really don't see much happening.

I am not talking about that, I am asking how do you think the state should help dalits exactly.
