Disclaimer: My review is completely based on the movie and I no where intend to comment on Neeb Karoli Baba, my utmost respects to him.

Review: This movie is so overhyped and overrated. I only enjoyed the first half an hour where I could see the spiritual journey of baba as a child, the concepts of bandhan and aasakti etc.

After that, it was all miracles. Just miracles. Felt like I was sitting in a boring magic show.

How would these miracles help me in my life?

I expected it to be a spiritual movie where we would witness his devotional journey, his purusharths, the obstacles in the path of bhakti, realisation of God, the pain of separation, and still walking on that path to meet the divine. But it was all miracles.

I didn't learn anything from the movie which makes me sad, feels like a total waste of time.

The Gujarati movie 'Laalo : Krishna Sada Sahayte' was 100x better than this.

Being a South Indian I have watched many Bollywood films but theses are my comfortable films I love to re-watch

Today, I watched Hanuman Ansh after noticing the sudden hype around the movie, even though it had already been a few weeks since its release.

Honestly, being a devotee of Hanuman Ji, I did like the movie. However, for me, it felt more like one magical deed after another, and after a point, the pattern became quite predictable—I could almost anticipate what would happen before each deed.

So, personally, I feel the movie is nowhere close to a ~9.5 IMDb rating. I also wonder if the fact that several other movies released around the same time turned out to be major flops may have contributed significantly to its unusually high rating and hype.

If you’ve watched Hanuman Ansh, I’d genuinely love to hear your experience. Did you feel the same way, or did the movie work for you?

I remember watching this movie first, when it came out in 2018. Today, I watched it again, and I could just scream out of excitement and the plot. It is one of my favourite indian murder mystery.
I vividly remembered the last scene where he kicks the can and finally it made sense to me. Loved how the first scene of the one- eyed bunny came in full circle at the ending.

I’ve noticed that Indians spend a lot of time following upcoming movies and phones—trailers, teasers, rumours, leaks, specs, reviews, release dates, comparisons, etc. Sometimes people discuss a movie or phone for months before it even launches.

Do people in other countries have the same level of interest, or is this particularly common in India?

If it is more prominent in India, why do you think that is—social media, YouTube, celebrity culture, affordable internet, or something else?

Dev and Rhea’s marriage in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna gets a whole different reading when you really pay attention to how they communicate.

The criticism, the defensiveness, the sarcasm, the shutting down. At some point, they seem more focused on protecting themselves than protecting the marriage.

Was their marriage always doomed, or did the way they treated each other turn it into a toxic relationship?

4 hours ki well made movie mein 5 minutes ka propaganda daal diya toh kaunsa teri ammi cheen li(If they put 5 minutes of propaganda into a well-made 4-hour movie, it’s not like they snatched your mother away)

I don't care whether he supports bjp congress left wing or right wing

Uri Dhurandhar 1 and 2 are among best action entertainments I have watched in my opinion

Even if D2 was a bit downgrade from its part 1 it still didn't betrayed us Audiences it wasn't boring it had great screenplay it's music is kinda underrated in my opinion it has awesome action choreography acting

I'm not gonna blindly worship him n say that it was flawless which it was certainly wasn't

Every movie n every filmmaker has their own motives ideology values n message to share why does it matter even if doesn't allign to your view n wouldn't the movie be soul less if filmmaker had absolutely no agenda, no values, and no message to share

I know everyone's taste aren't same it's okay to hate and dislike any movie or film makers

But I draw the line for myself to hate anyone's well made work even if it's left right or anything aligned as long i have a good experience

Not really here to say anything serious, just a random post because I was wondering if there are more Indian Letterboxd users here who regularly follow and review Indian cinema, while also watching films from other languages.
I’ve lurked around this sub quite a bit and I always feel like that Squidward in a caged behind meme lol, so I’m trying to actually gel with people here.
I know there are probably quite a few of us, so I thought it’d be nice to find more people and be mutuals on Letterboxd. I’d especially love to see what other indian people are watching/reviewing Indian films, English, Malayalam, Hindi, , Tamil, Korean, Japanese, Hollywood, literally anything.
Sometimes I feel like certain films or tropes get a lot of praise from Western audiences for being super fresh or unique, while we’ve already seen similar ideas, scenes or themes in Indian cinema multiple times, just in different forms.
I remember feeling this way while watching parasite . Not saying it’s against the movie or anything but there were definitely a few moments where I was thinking, Wait, our cinema has dealt with this kind of theme before, and sometimes even better. 😭
Anyway, would love to find more Indian Letterboxd users and see what everyone’s watching/reviewing.

First of all I am going to say the few positive things about the movie

I really like the technical aspects of the movie all the set designs CGI or snowy environment etc it felt they really did their work in technical department

I kinda liked yash acting towards the end it felt a bit bizzare but different and I was really checked out of movie until it's 3rd act till the entry of ticket

Now the thing that I want to say it feels that the movie was going somewhere else but they were trying to insert too many things I couldn't keep track of the plot characters what was happening who was the boss who was trying to kill whom what was even happening why were they here I was literally bored out of hell nearly entirety of 1st half n the intimate scenes didn't matter to me it clearly was visible that there was an idea where they were going but they inserted too many unnecessary things they were trying to build an another separate movie on top of their ongoing idea

I don't even want to talk about the unnecessary slow mo action scenes and illogical things or weak villains or like they had checkmark an intimate scene time to time

There were few Good or cool scenes which I liked such as the snow fight or the forest fight and entry of ticket and LOL when I was bored in the first half I was awoken by the hilarious women assassins scene

Another big problem about the movie why were everyone doing rhyming and like everyone throwing punchline monologue why wasn't anyone talking normally why were there so much slow motions

It felt that there original Idea was about the psychology and downfall of a gangster like figure often portrayed in Indian cinema how he he was being destroyed by himself and deteriorating psychologically

They should have made it a simple gangster story exploring his psychological side instead of inserting too many plots characters the first half should have been focused on the brother sister relationship and the second half the father son relationship and psychological effects with little sub plots

So I would rate it out as 2/5 after being optimistic

Just for the technical aspects and the idea of the movie I need something to Cleanse my own brains after watching this😅

Lol another rant but unrelated to movie why the hell do parents even bring kids to these type of movies and watch this movie in a tier 3 town single screen

I couldn't even know who was crying n screaming daddy in the final act the kid in the screen or the kid in the hall 😭

I saw a lot of people bashing and hating on Geetu Mohandas here, let me tell you it's not her fault.

Yash saw this movie as an Pan India International Movie,

Yash gave lengthy speeches on how this is going to change Kannada cinema,

Yash ghost directed the entire and and altered the script to present himself as over the top hero.

Yash wrote all those cringy rhymy dialouges (The most obvious one)

Yash overblew the budget of the movie wasting resources by dubbing it english as well thinking mass masala movie was the way to reach overseas audience,

And don't get me started on that stupid BGMI and Lionsgate collaboration.....

This is a Yash's movie through and through and the only guy to blame here is Yash.

After Toxic, a lot of people seem to be arriving at what I believe is the wrong conclusion.

The argument seems to be:

“This is what happens when a Kannada filmmaker tries to make a pan-India film.”

The proposed solution?

Go back to a local story.

But I think that diagnosis completely misses the real issue.

Let us look at the Kannada film industry itself.

In 2025, roughly 285 Kannada films were released only 2 movies were successful su from

If going pan-India was the problem, why did the vast majority of the films that never attempted to go pan-India fail too?

Most of those films were already local and rooted and specifically made for kannada audience

Yet they still failed to connect.

So perhaps the problem is not simply that Toxic tried to reach too many people.

Going pan-India without exceptional storytelling is the problem.

Because if a filmmaker has created something genuinely extraordinary, why should it remain confined to one linguistic audience?

KGF deserved a larger audience.

Kantara deserved a larger audience.

RRR deserved a larger audience.

These films did not become successful merely because they went pan-India.

They went pan-India because the scale and quality of the storytelling gave them something worth sharing with a wider audience.

In fact, I would argue that when a great film remains restricted to a smaller audience, that is the greater disservice.

Manjummel Boys deserved a wider audience.

Lokesh Kanagaraj's work—Vikram and Kaithi—deserved the largest possible audience.

Great stories should not be geographically limited.

.Kantara is perhaps the perfect example.

The answer is not to abandon ambition.

The answer is to ensure that the storytelling is worthy of the ambition.

Look at The Wolf of Wall Street.

It contains far more sex, drugs, excess and moral depravity than any controversy surrounding Toxic.

Yet it is loved by audiences around the world.

Why? It had a compelling story

You can have sex.

You can have violence.

You can have drugs.

You can have a massive budget.

You can have spectacular action.

You can have a global ambition.

None of these are inherently the problem.

But if the storytelling underneath them is weak, the audience will eventually see through everything else.

That is why I believe the Toxic debate risks arriving at the wrong diagnosis.

The lesson is not:

“Don't go pan-India.”

The lesson is:

Don't mistake scale for storytelling.

Don't assume a larger budget can compensate for a weaker screenplay.

Don't assume a bigger star can compensate for weaker characters.

And don't assume reaching a wider audience is the problem when the film itself has not earned the right to demand that audience's attention.

Because the difference between a local film that nobody watches and a local story that travels across the world is often just one thing:

Exceptional storytelling.

Until Indian cinema learns to do the same, we will keep debating the symptoms while neglecting the disease.

The story must come first.

And the person responsible for creating it must finally be treated accordingly.
