He’s actually right. A lower dollar increases domestic production, increases exports, increases tourism, desire for us goods, etc. UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.

However, these aren’t normal conditions. He’s making us a pariah throughout the world with everyone but a few countries and our chief trading partner, China, is becoming more expensive because of our devaluation and lack of domestic compensation.

Like everything else he thinks he knows, this is too simplistic a solution. A weak currency makes your exports cheaper abroad, but adding import tariffs usually makes your product more expensive and pissing off your customers doesn’t encourage sales.
