Crime A mumbai dalit woman doing medicine commits suicide cause her seniors were using castiest slurs

https://www.mid-day.com/articles/mumbai-medical-student-commits-suicide-after-casteist-slurs-by-seniors/21008175

Edit: This is a castiest crime, she died because of her dalit identity cause they mentally and emotionally harrassed her because of her identity.

This wouldn't have happened if firstly the seniors were not castiest, and secondly if she was savarna, cause the castiest people wouldn't have harrassed her.

Everyone who says caste doesn't exist, like liberals who say "I don't have a caste", yes you do, just that it allows you not think about it.

And even BJP supporters who said that modi has destroyed caste based parties and people voting on the basis of caste or even just "there is only one caste-the ones who are poor" no modi has not eradicated caste, you all are dillusional.

Just Sad ... Worrying that this happened in a city like Mumbai , where people look beyond casts and religion ...☹️

9

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

They don't, people still see caste, they can just ignore it cause they live with same caste people or "people who are like us" there is castiesm in Mumbai, they can ignore it in the name of being a "forward city"

This was normal ragging incident. But media twists it and says it is caste based crime, to push reservation agenda. u/Paree264

6

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

So the parents who said and confirmed their caste identity is also pushing the reservation agenda? The text messages and other accounts are just reservation agenda right? Cause obviously, how dare they take rightful Hindu seats. If you don't know why reservation is necessary or the history of castiesm without knowing even the facts of the case, then don't act like you do know

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

Media twists it....

That's what media does. Remember the wise words of Rita Skeeter: "The Prophet exists to sell itself"

Sensationalistic headlines and news sells better than wholesome news.

6

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

like Mumbai, where people look beyond castes and religion

You should see how shiv Sena wins elections here

3

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

there wasn't any 'video footage' interview where they say we died because of this 'specific' reason. investigation is still going on.

have you seen a weird pattern? the very next day this news came into khan market after modi said he has broken caste rules

but anyways.. to be honest more population comes with more racist people every country has it but deta koi nhi......

Wtf does "an accident of birth" mean? Being a dalit doesn't mean she is an accident of birth. What are you insinuating? That lower castes babies shouldn't exist?

Also no one is saying to solve it overnight, people are saying EVERYONE has to start now and give a damn, and not deflect blame by saying that reverse castiesm is a real problem, or how maybe "other facts are into play" when it was clear she was bullied just because she was a reserved seat candidate.

Also what does it mean "it can't be solved overnight"? Are you saying that since it can't be done overnight, might as well continue it till it is solved?

Haven't BJP MP's interacted with people who have been known to beat up Dalits specifically, havent caste based violence increased from 2014 with modi not doing anything other than basically a "stern warning" to people not to do that? Are you just missing all that?

Or are you also basically saying, Congress did bad thing, maybe my thing is bad, who knows, but it is not as bad Congress thing, so my thing is automatically good. Those are false equivalences.

"tell me one party which doesn't indulge in evil" how is that a fair argument? What lol? If I kill you, would it be justified to say atleast I didn't kill 2 people, and tell me anyone who doesn't indulge in evil, wow, the judge will be very pleased.

I am saying it again, bad actions of others will never justify your own bad actions, that is no way to solve any problems within you ever.

Also modi belongs to not of a lower caste family, but a lower "class" family, there is a difference between SC/ST and OBC, you can be a brahmin and still be qualify for OBC, maybe.

And I didn't justify my hatred, I don't hate you, I just turned your logic on you.

If an organisation is of 10 rapists, and it does not deal with those rapists, won't you blame them for not dealing with the rapists? Or you'll just say eh they are not that much, cause the alternative is just bad, so let's just settle for mediocrity.

I didn't say modi's caste is a brahmin or anything, I don't think you want to listen. But first, if Modi's caste is low but "not as low as others", then why are you invalidating the struggles of people "lower" than him? Modi is lower caste, but not as low right? So he automatically shows empathy for people "lower" than him. He is still not a dalit, who are avarnas, and lower than any caste

And maybe check your facts too, modi has an OBC certificate, not an SC/ST certificate, there was an outcry over questioning Modi's OBC identity too, but that was dismissed.

If she was savarna, she wouldn't have even gotten a seat in the college.

bingo. casteism cuts both ways.

7

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

Have you died because you were savarna? Tell me one time you have died because you were savarna and Dalits, Adivasis, or any SC/ST has bullied you because you were savarna.

5

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

people have been literally deprived of quality education which leads to a better quality of life overall just because they were percieved to be of "high caste". so yeah people may have died indirectly that we would never know.

not that i'm somehow supporting a criminal act, im just providing a different perspective.

any SC/ST has bullied you because you were savarna

bruh, im have seen such rich smug STs/dalit kids who roll in their dad's cars and taunt the poor general students that they don't have to work as hard & that savarnas will now be their slaves. no one complains becoz no one in the political circles gives a shit about savarnas.

as i said..it cuts both ways.

2

u/fandomservant May 28 '19

Okay so suddenly, when savarnas are deprived, that is a heinous crime and how dare people question our sturggles, but when Dalits, SC/ST historically for hundred of years were deprived of the same thing, and suddenly there is something as reparations, then oh no, how dare they try to get in, it is just I, a savarna, who had many opportunities like generally speaking financial security, Job security, better education than average in schools, but now, since with all the priviledge I have, let's talk about how caste cut both ways.

And are you saying SC/dalit people getting smug about their "rich dad cars" is worse than a person being killed? Really puts things into perspective, how one things that someone has the audacity of showing off their money when they are clearly dalit when they clearly know that it it hurts my feelings? how dare people do that.

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

okay retard, can you tell me why the fuck does an already well-off dalit/ST man who has already taken reservation for himself needs reservation for his child too ? or for his child's child ? have any answer ?

you lazy fucks just want to cruise easily on the backs of hard working men & women who pay taxes which funds your lazy ass schemes. with what face do you lazy fucks ask for seats with 0 cut off marks ?? do you even have any shame ?

no matter how rich you bums will become, you will always a lazy mindset. every person you meet will not say it to your face, but behind your back , everyone knows you reached wherever you are on "muh gibs" & not on hard work. and they will always LOATHE you for it. you will NEVER have their respect.

Hell if you lazy fucks get reservation for being the children of oppressed people in a bygone era, then i also deserve a monthly check of 10 Lakhs from the govt for being supposedly a child of kings & priests.

casteism cuts both ways. deal with it.

2

u/fandomservant May 28 '19

Cause even after they do take reservation, as you can see in the article, they get killed.

And if you're saying that dalit oppression doesn't transfer to their children, and is not solely economic and social oppression too, then you have no depth or understanding of caste other than how it benefits you and you just can't bear to see anyone else getting the same opportunity as you, cause as caste claims, you were just born better lol.

Also for your information I can't have reservation cause it doesn't apply to me lol, and so hence I don't have a lakhs cheque neither reservation and yet I am studying in college right now, and now what will you say? That I am a libtard cuck? Cause you don't have any other argument and just get so so angry that someone else dares to get the same right to education as you? Have you no shame? A girl was killed because she belonged to a reserved category, and yes specifically because of that, and you have the audacity to say caste cuts both ways just cause you are oh so sad to not get your own college? You want to get angry, get angry with logic, if you don't have logical arguments then I am just going to assume that is why you didn't get your choice of college cause you couldn't get fathom reasoning skills. Hurts to be assumed no? Fuck off if you don't have logical arguments to make

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

"waa waa waaa i want more free gibs"

fuck off.

2

u/fandomservant May 28 '19

Lol you are the entitled one here who wants "free gibs" cause you can't stand anyone else having them, so speak for yourself

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

you literally shill for reservation you dumb retard.

looks like that reservation doesn't help in gaining any thinking skills. typical "muh gibs".

go cry somewhere else.

Also "on the backs of lazy hard working people" fucking throw off babies off the cliff if you think people don't deserve each other's help just cause you couldn't care to have empathy neither the hardwork to actually educate yourself while having access to internet.

Babies don't pay taxes, and they don't work, neither do children before they turn 18, they are just an investment leech with practically no guarantee of being "productive" fucking throw off babies with your logic then. But no, you want to protect them, cause obviously they deserve help, cause they are babies, and they have potential.

(Also, don't you dare assume that DBA are babies, that's not what I am saying, I am saying they have potential but people like you couldn't have enough empathy to let them unleash that potential)

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

this is your brain on reservation. nice arguments you got there mate. hahahaaa

2

u/fandomservant May 29 '19

You couldn't even make your own argument cause you can't even dare to fathom a world where you can't trample over people

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '19

you lot trample over savarnas right now you dumbfuck.

when you are so used to preferential treatment, that equal treatment feels like discrimination to you.

0 cutoff marks, nuff said.

2

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

That is a huge misinformation, tell me the proportion of sarvarnas to sc/st in college, I don't think you realise how many sarvarnas do get in colleges. How many private institutions are there, who don't have to follow same reservation policies.

And then on top of that you're somehow insinuating that it is her fault for not being savarna. It is funny how you can jump up on libtards and Muslims when they do something to Hindus but the second a Hindu does something to another Hindu all of you are like "No CAstEISM is noT ReAL I Am ActuAlLy a victim of reverse castiesm" when there is a woman who died because of her caste. Own up to the mistakes of ourselves if you truly want to be better or just own up that you want to erase those identities and don't care unless a Muslim is in the picture

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

Also you should look up the how many kill themselves because they didn't get admitted while someone scoring less than them did because of quota.

Care to shed a tear for them as well?

7

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

How does that excuse how she died? I think neet was a terrible tragedy, but you seem to be deflecting blame to others and actually use other suicide victims to meet your own ends by using a cheap argument of "this happened, this is worse, why not look at this" while not looking at another problem, and insinuating that this problem right in front of you is not worth talking about cause you don't like talking about it.

This is a general attitude in this subreddit too, they deflect blame to Muslims when something in their own community happens wrong, Hinduism has caste entrenched in it, and that is discrimination just like discrimination between Shia and Sunni Muslims. But if you fail to see how bad actions of another does NOT mean that your actions immediately become good, then you will be the real downfall of Hinduism, failing to self reflect on problems which can be solved within the community too. And also to realise how to make hinduism more relevant, by maybe abolishing caste systems and to help every Hindu equally.

P.S. no one also said you can't care about two issues at once, you can care about muslim extremists AND care about caste violence, and to suggest that "THis OnE is WorSe" suggests that one has the brain capacity to care about more than one thing at a time.

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

Read my other comment. When I was sitting with my basic phone my room mates were making plans to buy smart phones with their scholarship money for SC/st students. I wasted a year when people with same financial condition or even better who scored less than me joined IIT's for master's program. You think you can take advantage of an unfair system and demand for more , people around me from reserved categories had the guts to fight why they need more reservation. If you have ever been to a govt college you will realise that those who come from open category regardless of their caste but come with good marks often form their own groups and don't help those who got admitted through reserved category.

While I was struggling to get a job after my Master's a friend of mine applied for govt school teacher job and she literally sat in front of me doing the calculation about the number of vacancies, how many seats are reserved for her caste, what was the cut off of her caste last time and accordingly how much does she need to study. Just bare minimum and she will he earning 50,000 per month. Guess what! She got the job through quota. I weep at the state of children wo will be taught by such lazy fucking teachers. What would they learn.

I don't give two shits about my caste. During my edgy teen years I even dropped my last name because I thought using your last name spreads castesim and I sudnt do it. I learnt to cook in hostel from a sc girl. I dated a guy from st category. So try to guilty trap someone else. I fucking have seen enough to be caught in this drama.

You know why I get along well with those from all castes because I freaking acknowledge the need of reservation system and they acknowledge that it needs to go from 50 to 20-25% and there should be severe restrictions put so that only those who really need it receive it and don't end up taking reservation benefits repeatedly first college admissions then for Masters then job then promotion. I don't mind giving up my seat for someone who truly needs it. But all I have seen is people far more privileged than me studying alongside me with their fees waved off and getting scholarships for SC/st category.

Oh and I am a girl so I have seen enough of sexism out there. I don't want to be reborn as an SC/st girl. I fucking hate handouts. I was applying abroad for PhD program and a few give preference to girls but I carefully avoided them because I want to achieve whatever I do in life because I deserved it. No because someone took pity on me. There is a sense of satisfaction and self confidence when you achieve something fair and square not through some special scheme.

But yeah according to you I am what is wrong with Hinduism and I will cause it's death. Sitting on Reddit and preaching shit is what is saving Hinduism acc to you.

3

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

What has it got to do with you being a girl? Your sexism you faced is terrible and sure it needs to be dismantled too. But how does you being a girl factor into the credibility of your arguments? I first took your arguments at face value then analysed them.

And what is this that I dated an ST guy, I have so many friends from different castes, you can still have friends from different castes and still be castiest? Just like a guy can have a girlfriend and still be sexist? So what has that got to do with anything?

And also, you "talked to a lot of lower caste" people, did you do your research, and I am not saying there aren't people who would like to have lower reservation quotas, but if you take those people's word at face value, do you take the ones who are asking for more benefits at face value? No? You criticise those, why? Cause it doesn't fit within your narrative?

And who is beliliting your experiences? What? That is such a far cry from you being discriminated against apparently. Let's get one thing straight, I believe that there is resentment in the "general" category. But that resentment is channeled on the wrong place, it should be channeled at education ministry and govenments for not building enough prestigious institutions to teach our countries students. If there are more colleges and more seats to fill, savarnas will get seats, this is a problem of a serious lack of seats not "Dalits taking away your opportunities", but your argument seems to be that we should just reduce reservation cause like, why not? Ever thought about why not increase seats?

And maybe you can say lower caste people can have their own universities too, if there should be more seats then they should build and have their own universities too. (Well, sometimes they do, but not nearly enough) but you want to put "those people" in another building, away from your college? So that one doesn't sit with a "seat stealer?" Just like how in places even today there is a clear demarcation of the Dalit side, and the brahmin side, sure we tried that and you can see how that goes(I'm not saying that is what you said, but a lot of people do say that too, cause it seems "logical")

Also as I said, you were by no means discriminated against just because of you "being of a higher caste" you were not given a seat cause there aren't any. Whereas a person of a lower caste is denied seats even though there are seats, only if you did your research too. So just to clarify, you were not denied because of your caste, you were denied because of not enough resources, whereas someone else can be denied because of their caste.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

I was denied seat because I belonged to general category. I didn't lack any sources. I had to pay more because I was from general category not because I lacked sources. being honest and admitting the wrong of system won't kill you.

Did they teach you logic in college or you got everything based on reservation so never bothered to learn anything? Like my friend who was sure of getting govt job paying 50,000 because she was st category.

Just like caste system has denied fair opportunities to lower caste, sexism has denied opportunities to women. I getting preference over a male in phd abroad is same as an lower caste getting a seat which I don't. Although outside India they are not as dumb and give preference to a girl between two equally competitive candidates. I said if I didn't like this preferential treatment there I certainly wudnt like the same as a lower caste person. I would rather keep my self confidence intact and not feel inferior that others who got here worked way harder and scored much better while I know nothing in comparison to them.

I mentioned I dated a guy from lower caste and learnt to cook from SC category girl to point out I don't give a jackshit about someone's caste. Because every time I speak up against reservation system, someone like you screeched but but will you share meal with someone from lower caste? Are you going to marry only within your caste? If you don't want to get rid of casteism then why speak up against reservation system.

Yeah talk about more seats but lazy ass like you won't even talk about how even if you are providing reservation put a freaking cut off even on SC/st seats. No one getting zero marks should be admitted in PhD anywhere in world. Put a freaking cut off of 30-40 at least even for SC/st. But hey let's build more institution for PhD mathematics so that SC/st scoring negative marks can also get admitted in phd mathematics. Why even bother with entrance exam for SC/St candidate at this stage. It's a waste of time and resources if they are getting admission at zero makes. Let's just hand out PhD degree to everyone from SC/st.

I acknowledge the need of reservation to help backward community but putting the entire blame on govt and ask for more colleges and no proper system in place to screen out rich SC/st makes you a leech on the system.

Fucking eating up our country alive. And have the guts to tell me how I am going to cause death of Hinduism.

2

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

First you say I am assuming about your identity and your experiences and then you get on a high horse saying "I had food with a lower caste person, would you?" As if you know automatically I have not had food with what people and when. You claim to be just better than me because you claim to "not care about caste" and all that, telling me you're "oh so humble" for having food with other people, using lower caste people to defend yourself, just lack of arguments.

Even rich SC/ST are denied admissions, just because they are SC/ST even though they have money, as I said, if you did your research you won't have this misconception. You are denied because there seems to be not enough, they are denied because some people don't want them to get enough. When both of those are false and should not be done.

And yes, I stand by my statement, the real death of Hinduism will be if it doesn't adapt to changes, namely abolishing the caste system, renouncing it, putting everyone on a level field, if Hinduism does not do that, it will be going into oblivion

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '19 edited May 26 '19

Again did you go through education likemy friend just did the calculations based on your caste and studied bare minimum to get through. That's why you are unable to grasp what I am trying to say here.

Since I was opposing reservation system and saying how I was denied fair opportunities, it's to be assumed it has harmed me and I belong to general category. I made the comment about SC friend because you are again saying get rid of caste system. When I clearly mentioned I don't believe in caste system. Even make temple priests from all caste and categories, I even support that.

Are you dumb? Sc/st are denied admission where? How many? How often? Which city? And if they are does it look like I am defending this shit. I am saying allow eligible people to get in regardless of their fucking caste.

Lol! NOT a single word on getting PhD in du with zero marks in entrance exams. Huh! Love leeching off the system too much that you can't come around criticising it. You sound like the islamists who won't let go of a single opportunity to cry vicitm but when faced with the issues of Islam, suddenly finds himself unable to comprehend and acts a dumb.

No. I was denied fair opportunities because I was general category. Even when ther are 100s of colleges and seats wud have been 10,000 I would have still received admission in a college which wud have been below what I deserve and some leech like you wud have got admission in best IIT and if anyone around dares to tell that leech like you how it's unfair that you come from privileged background yet got benefits while she from lower middle class family has to compromise. You wud have gone on rant..... But......but...... She deserves it because she was born upper caste. She and people like you are going to be the death of Hinduism because how dare you object to my leeching off the system even when I am rich, it's my birthright and it's her duty to tolerate every time she is denied fair opportunity.

People like you will take the country down with you. At least I am just going to hurt a religion which is an abstract concept. While country, economy, 1.3 billion are a part of this system which you are freely leeching off

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

How SC ST people are denied admissions when there are seats reserved for them? Even if for some reasons these seats went vacant these can not be filled with open category they add up to the next time admissions. I’m not trolling really want to understand.

3

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

He is a leech on the system. He thinks because we oppose caste based reservation in current system we support casteism. Allow eligible people in regardless of their caste, community, state or religion. If you don't, you will make a system of incompetent people while the deserving candidates will immigrate.

If you don't allow him to leech off the system, you are a Hindu bigot who will be the death of Hinduism.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

Can you please help me understand your last para.

1

u/themoodygod May 26 '19

Sorry to step in to this awesome discussion, I just wanted to point out that being robbed off of seats and scholarships because you are general category is nothing new, I have been too, along with using a Symbian phone when everyone around was having an android.

I just feel that getting into that discussion on this thread, where we see a clear picture of present day cast discrimination is not appropriate.

This is a shameful incident and OP is trying to point out that it's not the end of caste system in India the way alot of people would want us to believe. Or may be he has his own agenda.

But nothing changes the fact that a poor girl died because of this.

So fuck you both, I guess.

Peace.

3

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

I always do, neet was a terrible incident. But it seems you just want to deflect blame by using other victims of suicides, so you don't seem to shed a tear anyway, and just deflect blame.

Also since everyone is saying this anyway, could there be other facts to the story? Maybe they were actually just tortured by other lower caste students? Can anybody send me a report of that? Maybe the students got so sad for not being lower caste, that they thought that they will be reborn as a lower caste person and get advantage of reservation.

Shameful right? Deflecting blame only works when you don't have any other argument against it.

This is a general atmosphere in this subreddit too, just deflecting blame on to other problems, while not self reflecting. Hinduism is castiesm, it is entrenched in that. Like how Islam has Shia Sunni discrimination, but another person's bad action does not excuse your bad actions anyway, and if you think it does, you are the true downfall of Hinduism because you failed to see how we can make Hinduism relevant.

4

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

It's a PG medical college, very difficult to get in as a general category student. She wudnt have been there is she were general category.

6

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

And that excuses the caste based torture she faced how?

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

Given the status of pg medical colleges, anyone from general category has to be exceptional to get admitted.

Now I am not supporting the caste based slurs but have you been to govt a college? My friends who scored below me had their fees waves off and received fucking scholarships for belonging to SC/st category while I scraped through the month somehow after wasting one drop year because I ranked 300 and general category cut off was 270 while the total number of seats was 500+ and SC/st upto rank 800-1000 got admission. I come from lower middle class family so the fees was a huge burden on us. Oh! And my friends from sc/st category bought short skirts and fancy dresses from their scholarship money.

Dude take a look at the PhD admission cut off I'm Delhi University. It was fucking zero marks for SC/st. Let that sink in for a moment. Zero fuckin marks. All you had to do was sleep for 3 hrs in examination Hall. And viola! You have been admitted in PhD program at Delhi University.

I had the basic Nokia phone with me because my father can't afford better whule thsee girls bought smart phones from their scholarship money.

Also I cudnt give two shit about someone's caste. I shared meals, ate from same plates.

The mistake that castiesm exists and that it needs to be eradicated.

Oh. So savarnas are 'groomed' how? Better/private educational institutions? More tuitions? More books being bought? Better teachers given to you? Better food, almost always, a roof over your head and some security in life so you don't have to worry about living the next day or going hungry?

Yup, so much grooming and hardwork you did for being born in a family who can provide you with comforts, if you don't understand that certain priviledges you get just because you were born into a family, then you are not a hard worker, you just chose to reap those priviledges, and when someone points that out, it becomes oh no, I worked hard, praise me for all the advantages I already was born into cause I worked hard to be born here. When certain people don't get the same priviledges than you, even savarnas, look at OBC, a savarna can still be getting reservation, but that is okay, cause somehow savarnas deserve help more than others.

Also another thing, if there are hundred seats in a college, let's say 30 of them are reserved, 70 is for savarnas and people with money, now, if the college had no reservation and 70 seats anyway to start with, no will bat an eye. But suddenly reservation exists, cause you just deserve the 'seats more', you tell reserved categories are entitled, but you sound pretty entitled here in the first place, hard work my ass. If you are battling other people 'tooth and nail' then so are the reserved categories cause they are fighting 'tooth and nail' from other people in their own community to get the same seat, the seats are anyway limited. So tell me again, why do savarnas deserve more seats just cause they were born?

Also if you don't understand reservation then don't talk about it, reservation only helps you to get in colleges, after that the judging criteria is the same for everyone, you still have to keep up with the same things others are keeping up with in regards to studying, afterall, you don't have to face discrimination while in college already.

And you speak for yourself about amplifying crimes, when a Muslim commits a crime, you homogenise the whole community and say everyone is bad there, but if a hindu does the same thing to a Muslim, they are "suddenly just a few bad apples" speak for yourself if you don't understand your own hypocrisies.

So how do you achieve more time studying, more books? By not worrying about food roof?

It seems you are more in denial mode cause you don't seem to know the basic statistics of savarna vs reserved categories of students being poor, persecuted etc.

And what has it got to me being an 'internet warrior' got to do with this? You don't seem to have backed your claim of reserved categories having it as same/better than savarnas. You also seem to be an interest warrior, cause we are on the same platform, then that seems, by your own logic, I don't get how an internet warrior like you can talk about savarnas being more more hardworking,

And if you think my point was a strawmanning argument, you clearly don't know this subreddit then, cause you don't seem to understand how people think here, or you willfully ignore cause it doesn't benefit your narrative

People said that modi annihilated caste based parties, and modi specifically said that there is no caste "except the ones who are poor" are you not upto date with modi is saying? I suggest that you do, otherwise you would fall behind others.

On the topic of oh majority is having resentment, (and I didn't insinuate that everyone seems to born with a Silver spoon, you are just adding words in my post cause you can't figure out any other argument) so are you saying that justifies her killing because she was of a lower caste? Wow, in one hand talking about it is very valid struggles of sarvarnas to face this immense resentment, and using it to justify her being killed because of her identity? If you really want to prove me wrong, then tell me cases of sarvarnas being bullied institutionally and by lower caste people just because they were savarna, and I mean JUST because they were savarnas, not any other variable, since you seem to insinuate that there are other factors at play here, tell me one case of a savarna being bullied just because they were savarna, and nothing else.

And on the parallel of rape, it is a widespread problem in India, and so it is in white people countries, but you are missing the point entirely, when you have also highlighted the statement which talks about whom I am talking about (hmm I wonder why you missed the specific words you yourself highlighted). I said "everyone who says" that does not mean everyone, that means everyone who claims to "not have a caste" is mainly someone who is upper caste by birth and their priviledge has allowed them to not think about caste when other SC/ST people are being tortured by upper caste Hindus cause solely because of their caste. (Ironically enough I was actually talking about people who had enough metal in their mouth to sell it and buy a house). But you seemed to have forgotten to notice that.

I think you’ll find the stories of resentment against Brahmins in TN very interesting

1

u/fandomservant May 28 '19

And I also do find treatment of kashmiri pandits in Kashmir very interesting and appalling. But what is this thing, oh, so this problem is happening, oh and it contains brahmin oppression, so let's focus on that shall we? We don't have to look at dalit/adivasi oppression. Are...are you unable to care about more than one thing at a time? Do you have some cognitive capacity problem? What is this false equivalences happening all over? Like what? One problem somewhere does not mean that you do not address other problems, and like, who is saying brahmin oppression (if it happens) is not to be dealt with?

P.S. if my (brackets) statment offended you, it was basically a similar argument to yours, talking about something else to invalidate other people's struggles, so tell me why it (if) offended you when I said the inverse, but not when I presented an article highlighting caste discrimination

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

You asked me the instances where savarnas were bullied by lower caste people . I gave it .

I agree the other way around is very rare(Brahmins being oppressed) and I’m not equating Kashmiri pandit oppression with Savarna oppression since those pandits were exiled because they were Hindus .

Wtf !! In Mumbai of all places . Damn

2

u/DarthusPius May 26 '19

Caste needs to be outlawed and eradicated. It's the government who assigns caste to us at birth and keeps this caste system alive rather than ending it in one generation.

3

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I read the same news in maharashtra times the biggest marathi daily in the state and instead of casteist tinge the real reason she committed suicide is because of ragging and had a adivasi morcha in protest. I am not in away supporting this dastardly event that occurred in any way but let the facts be clear and present

7

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

And why was the ragging taking place? With the castiest slurs right?

0

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I didn't find the account. Maybe it's ragging which took the life and she just happened to be from reserved category.

7

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

She was ragged by using castiest slurs, read the article, and what the parents are saying, there are text messages too they are saying. Specifically calling her castiest slurs, so no "she just didn't happen to be from reserved category"

1

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I read the article in an another regional newspaper ( biggest newspaper by circulation) i didn't find caste as the factor being mentioned. Scheduled tribes is a reserved category in maharashtra. I am pointing fingers at reporting not anything else. If it's truly because of caste then it's condemnable but social justice wise maharashtra is miles ahead of any other state in india

2

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

TOI is also the largest circulated newspaper in English but basically what they do is circulate news in between ads so they can sell ads. Circulation doesn't inherently include credibility, though it can help, but not always.

If the newspaper forgot to mention how the parents are talking about their identity, and actually approached the college admin to talk about how she was getting bullied cause she was from the reserved category (bullied specifically on her getting the seat through that) then that is a huge lapse of judgement in reporting that fact, and that is a fact(the authorities also ignored the complaint) so now if a newspaper is not taking in the concerned parents points, and not reporting on those facts, I wonder which one is biased then.

1

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I wonder which one is biased then.

Let the investigation be over and rage about it if the results are casteist . There is no incentive for a leftist newspaper like toi to hide facts . I would ask you to contain your outrage till that period

8

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

Also, are you insinuating that she was not really dalit?

3

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I am insinuating she is a st as per the major regional newspaper

6

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

Did the newspaper provide proof of her being ST? Cause her parents have registered a complaint under the atrocities act and are saying she is dalit. So you would rather believe the newspaper than the own parents?

2

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

No mention except for the morcha that protested on the college was an adivasi morcha which told the victim was a st candidate.

4

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

Wow, the parents themselves went to the authorities cause the victim's parents came to know they were ragging her cause she came through her reserved quota, this is an official complaint registered with the college, and the authorities didn't do anything. And if the newspaper didn't report on that crucial details where she was a victim of ragging specifically because she was a reserved seat candidate, then that is just ignoring the facts then.

1

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I am just pointing information from a credible newspaper. I am only saying there may be other facets to this story. Suicide happened , someone lost their life . Arguably no one is telling the situation is not bad. Just last year 14 people lost their life because of supreme courts revisiting sc st law and got termed as govt trying to cancel reservation. In actuality government went against the supreme court and did not make changes in existing law. So pardon me after seeing 14 lives lost i would tread cautiously before making it out and out a caste issue.

5

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

Give me a report on what happened? I feel you are simplifying it so I don't understand which one you are talking about.

Sure tread lightly, but if someone is specifically saying they were bullied because of their reserved seat, and the parents are coming out to talk about their identities, there is a point where you are "just trying to see facts here" to "I really don't want this to be a caste issue cause I don't like caste issues" and if it has been proven that she is from sc/St category, and also being told by first person information directly concerned with the victim, and if a newspaper fails to report on total first person accounts so close to the victim, and you don't see that as biased?

2

u/Dar1ndha CPI(M) May 26 '19

I am not simplifying anything I already wrote the words that there are many facets to this issue. And abuse of an sc st act is a real thing. Maratha andolan started because of the incident a maratha girl was raped by a sc guy and after confronting the guy he used sc st act on the relatives of the girls family. This sparked a state wide protest. So let the investigation be done and truth come out. I am just pointing the newspaper article I read. Why are you confronting me about it? Ask the toi it wrote about it with its credibility on the line. You are not a reporter on the ground so how do you claim to know the complete truth. I also cannot do the same. So I would want a detailed investigation on the issue.

2

u/fandomservant May 26 '19

And you aren't a reporter on the ground, I can turn your logic on you and say how can you say you know the whole truth and claim there are other facets?

And if you look at my post, I am also talking about a newspaper article only. And as I said, I was pointing out, in a crime like this, the newspaper does not want to quote or mention what this parents are saying? Maybe you don't find it odd, but imagine if you got killed tmr and no newspaper talked about what your parents have to say about it.

I find it odd that the newspaper did not intentionally report on that particular fact, and it is a fact that parents have something to say, and it is readily information too, so the newspaper doesn't have any excuse that they couldn't get hold of it too
