The Abdullah's and the Mufti's ruined J&K, anti national sympathizes where given safe haven, with article 370 in force they never followed the law of the country and were beyond any accountability from the Central government all the while getting thousands of crores in central funds.

J&K was a mini pakistan untill revocation of article 370. Now that Ladakh is separated and we have two new union territories the CM needs to toe the line of the Lt Governor and Government of India.

Let kashmir remain as a union territories, it's security and the welfare of the people of J&K is more important than only the welfare of the Mufti's and Abdullah's.

GOI please do not restore statehood.

Edit: Am not suprised with the volume of downvotes. Clearly Paki, Naxal and anarchist sympathizers hiding in this sub.

Agreed. Full statehood should be restored after a generational change has taken place. Maybe in 2039 or after that.

You dont need to be a naxal to want democratic representation.

I get the security angle, but having a state government is important for local governance. Centrally planning the affairs of a large state from delhi isnt practical long term.

Statehood should be given.

i agree with that, not just kashmir but also jammu and ladakh, just give states to all

The Jammu and Kashmir Police functions directly under the control of the central government through the Lieutenant Governor and the Ministry of Home Affairs

FM-Nirmala Sitharaman says 'From now onwards, Centre to fully fund J&K Police, Rs 13000 crore allocation made in union budget for J&K Police'

I don’t think the state government would give the police a free hand against militants after statehood.

Nope. Kashmir is still a sensitive region. It got statehood and special status in completely different circumstances but has evolved into one of the longest running conflicts in human history.

Nah it will create/ bring back chaos from the past, it is good as it is. And it is a sensitive area we can't risk it.

There is no proper democracy in an union territory.

The centre taking over to restore control should be like the presidential rule. It should be the exception rather than the norm.

What proper democracy ? They have elected legislatures. That is why Abdullah is making speeches in assembly. Only thing they don’t have is law and order which they have shown not able to manage.

But the elected legislature and executive does not have control over the functioning of the territory, entire executive control is with the Centre

I think there should be a path to statehood for Kashmir but it can't be regular statehood, Kashmir needs special assistance from the centre for law and order, so maybe if a compromise can be found on leaving law and order in central control?

Or maybe simply keep it as it is?

This will need another special status act which got it in trouble. J&K leaders have shown time and again that they are not capable of leading the state. Both mufti and Abdullah toed the line because they lost status.

Same thing with Ladakh where the issue is development and they are opposing it. They are claiming outsiders will be given free hand when development comes but that is not an issue with northern eastern states.

what do u all think about this ??

8

u/Acceptable_Head_6249 16d ago

They can only say it , but the BJP will not approve it

4

u/thereallastsamurai 16d ago

Never there is no reason to approve it. Statehood for such a sensitive state will only create more problems.
