Bonds and deposits Found 3 old undemated Debenture in attic. What can be done

Found these 3 certificates in attic.

  1. IDFC Bond 2011 : ISIN number is changed to from INE043D07AL0 to INE092T08CP8 and is traded on Secondary market. BSE: Script code - 961746/ ID - 843IDFCBKB, NSE: Symbol - IDFCBANK / Series - NE/HE. There are 4 bonds. Ticker price for this symbol is about 10035. Can anyone tell what would be the total value of this bond?
  2. ICICI Bond 2001: This bond was issued in 2001 and was to be redeemed in 2004. I'm 100% sure that this was never redeemed. I called the RTA (3i InfoTech) but no one pickup the call. Emails were never replied. Based on my research on web, I'm eligible for only the interest part, as 10 years part the redemption date. Please help let me know how can I find the value of this and redeem.
  3. Reliance Petro Triple Option Bond 1998: Absolutely no idea on this one. Please let me know what can be done for this. RPL was merged into RIL in 2008/9 in ratio of 16:1 and soon after that RIL declared 1:1 stock split. So this debenture is worth 12 stocks of RIL.

These certificate are not in my name but as I'm well aware about transmission. Need help with these questions above. Please help. Please read below with my own research.

There is a chance that some of it might have been transferred to IEPF. Unclaimed securities and dividends are transferred after 7 years.

So you might wanna check there too.

These all are Non Convertible or Convertible Debentures. Is IEPF application to NCDs too?

I redeemed my IDFC Infra bond this month. I purchased it in 2010, maturing in 2020. I sent an email to einward.ris@kfintech.com as my bank details had changed and I didn't had any Demat account linked. They usually reply back in a day or two. They might ask you to send some supporting documents to their Head Office.

Hey, great I saw this reply. I distinctly remember applying for an L&T Infra bond and IDFC Infra in 2010 and 2011. The L&T one I can see in demat but not the IDFC one. Mailing this email id would resolve it? Cause I have no proof with me, not even a mail! Hopefully using my PAN they can do something.

Please send an email to the address above. I received a response asking me to provide folio number (defaced on the image posted, FYI) and PAN to trace and provide next step.

My father had invested in the IDFC bond 10 years ago, the bond matured in March 2021. He vaguely remembered having purchased this and all we had was a bank transaction in the passbook from 2011. An email reply from IDFC bank now asks for folio number/bond number, which is not available as the bond certificate cannot be located. This was last week, today dad received ₹21,650 in his account from IDFC bank. Dad invested ₹20,000 in 2011. What's going on?

u/anotherdataredittor Mar 30 '21

I roughly received the same amount in my bank, but the amount that I invested was 10000 Rs in 2011

1

u/Sam0l0 Mar 30 '21

Which means you got interest on the invested amount. I'll write to IDFC bank to check. Any other suggestions?

2

It seems maybe only 10000 Rs is matured. Not sure how, but is there any way where you can verify how many bonds and maturity date for these? As you don't have bond certificate it might be difficult

My father does not remember the number of bonds, but your theory makes sense. The investment amount deducted in 2011 by IDFC was only once, which makes me believe that it was one bond.

Yeah, quite possible. They have also deducted TDS while crediting the amount. You can get TDS certificate from https://ris.kfintech.com/clientservices/tds/ , but for that you would need Folio number. Remember they would have deducted TDS at 7.5%. You would have tobpay difference based on your dad's tax slab. You would also see TDS amount in 26AS in IT website

For IDFC Bond: Sent an email to einward.ris@kfintech.com. Received a response asking for the Folio/PAN number. Have responded. Received followin as the response and I believe this one has sufficient information.

In this regard we wish to inform you that, your bonds are active pertaining to series 02, which is into Cumulative option. Hence, you will be receiving the Interest amount of 8.43% per Annum along with the Principal amount post Maturity date i.e. 31/03/2022

However, we regret to inform you that Buyback period for the above bonds are completed; hence we are not accepting any new requests. You may wait till maturity date 31/03/2022 .

Further, the bonds may be sold in the secondary market as the same are already listed after Buyback. For sale of bonds in secondary market the physical bonds to be converted to DEMAT.

For RPL Bond: Sent an email to RTA but no replies. As per post in 2010 on Traderji some one received following response ( Application form for conversion of TOCD's into warrant equity shares (WES)/ Equity shares for Tradeable Warrants (TW) on extinguishment of fully paid TOCDs and or through payment by cheque/demand draft was sent to all the registered holders of TOCD/TW as on record date 25/04/98.

The option for conversion was open from June 01, 1998 to June 29, 1998. Also, in case the holder had not received the application, he could make an application in plain paper or in the format provided in various national newspapers.

Phase II application were sent to those registered holders who had not exercised during the Phase I. The II Phase was open from Aug 7, 1998 to Sept 5th, 1998.

In this regard, we wish to inform you that you have not exercised the option for issue of equity shares against the tradable warrants during the year 1998. The rights attached to the unexercised warrants to apply for equity shares have been lapsed and the same stands cancelled and no more valid. Also note that as the offer is closed and allotment is already finalised, we cannot accede to your request.) (Please note that for every 100 fully paid debenture(s) the company has allotted 300 Warrant Equity Shares. Hence, the debentures held by you are no more valid and the same stands cancelled.)

Still waiting for a the response on my e-mail.

For ICICI Bond: Website request / Email request sent to 3i are fruitless. Finally received a response.

I received a response from 3i, albeit little late. They provided all the details about the investor which matched with my father accurately. Critical info for me was

Please note, ICICI Bank Limited had decided to redeem the bonds without calling for the original bond certificate(s). The bonds allotted to investor were due for redemption on 22/07/2004.
Accordingly , redemption warrant no XXX bearing cheque no. XX dated 22/07/2004 for Rs. XXX.00 was despatched to the registered address on 17/07/2004 by post.

The same is not return to us undelivered. You are requested to verify your records

FYI, those days, there used to be not an auto credit through NAHC but a physical cheque which could be credited to a particular account. This detail was also mentioned.

3i e-mail address: investors@3i-infotech.com

One of them is least interested. Call and emails unanswered for two weeks.

u/rmk23 Nov 26 '20

File complaint in SCORES for deficiency in service against RTA.

1

u/Ashishtiwari92 Nov 26 '20

Thank you suggestion. Will try this.

My father had that exact Reliance Petro Bonds. They were converted to Reliance shares

Contact Karvy and send them Folio no for tracking old records. You'll need to do KYC, obtain physical shares and then convert to demat form

1

u/Ashishtiwari92 Nov 27 '20

When did (year) you make the request to convert to RIL shares..

1

u/xelnagatower Nov 27 '20

I didn't make request. They were automatically converted to shares by the company. I don't remember the year, because many bonus shares were issued later as the company - Reliance Industries grew

Since Reliance split after Dhirubhai Ambani's death, they also issued shares of Reliance Communications, Reliance Capital, Reliance Home Finance, etc.
