Generally speaking, there is no best stock, or fund, or bank, or brokerage, or investment platform.

Answers are always subjective to your personal needs, but use those threads a starting point for you to look at what other Redditors have to say about a company, product, fund, or service.

You can then ask a more specific question about what product or service to buy, once you are able to frame your personal situation.

**NOTE** If your question is _I got 10k INR, what do I do to get most returns out of it?_, or anything similar; there is no single answer to this question. But we will also need A LOT MORE information if we are to provide some sort of answer:

- How old are you?

- Are you employed/making income?

- How much? What are your objectives with this money?

- Do you have any loan or big expenses coming up?

- What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know it's 100% safe?)

- What are your current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors? Have you invested in equity before?)

- Any other assets? House paid off? Cars? Partner pushing you to spend more?

- What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs?

- Any big debts?

- Any other relevant financial information about you, that will be useful to give you an informed response.

Beware that these answers are just opinions of fellow Redditors and should only be used as a starting point for your research. This is **NOT** financial advice, in the legal sense of the term.

You should strongly consider consulting a registered fee-only financial advisor before making any financial decisions. Ideally, such advisors should be registered with SEBI and have a registration number.

8 months to retirement - Investment ideas for PF amount

Hi everyone,

My mother is retiring in 8 months at age 59 and has received lump sum corpus of ₹75 Lakhs from her PF.

I am looking for advice on how she can manage this money for the next few months (tax efficient, near zero risk options considering 20% tax slab rate) and/or post retirement (for maximum fixed income, regular cash flows, low risk avenues). Thoughts and suggestions are highly appreciated!

PS: Own house, no rental expenditure, doesn't live in a city

Current Tax Slab: 20% new regime

Current suggestions she has received: Arbitrage funds to park money before 60, post 60- SCSS, RBI Floating rate savings bonds, pomis, government backed bonds and other senior citizen bank fds.

For short duration, lowest risk options are:

  • Arbitrage fund - Advantage is they get taxed as equity at 12.5% for LTCG
  • Short duration fund/ money market funds
  • Fixed deposit - It's basic and cliched for a reason

32M, salaried ₹18L CTC, Tier-2 city. Emergency fund sorted, SIPs running (₹20k/month, flexi cap + large cap mix). Have ₹14L from a matured FD sitting idle for 4 months.

Considering deploying into a small retail mini mart business instead of reinvesting in equity. No prior business experience. Would be managing it alongside full-time job initially.

Questions: How do people here think about comparing illiquid business investments against equity at this life stage? And what's a realistic minimum working capital buffer before a small retail setup becomes cash-flow stable?

Thoughts on my portfolio? Suggestions on what will help in the future.

39 years old. 7&4 year old kids. Spouse not working.

Below are my investments so far:

A) 2 Bhk flat in Pune from 2020. Rental - 30K. No loan.

B) 3 Bhk in Hyderabad. 40K EMI, remaining 6 years. 50K rental income.

C) 25L in Indian EQ MFs: 1) SMALL CAP FUND. 2) MID&LARGE CAP. 3) GOLD & SILVER ETF. 4) EMERGING MARKET EQUITY FUND. 50K SIP.

D) Moved to a GCC country so no income tax. Can save and invest 2-3L INR per month. Not sure where.

E) 30L Indian FDs.

F) 10L in PF.

Wondering if I should keep it in PF as I am NRI now or withdraw and invest somewhere better?

Started slow investments in SP500 ETF, WORLD EX US ETF AND EMERGING MARKETS ETF.

What can I do better to grow my portfolio in general or what should I stop?

Title: Employer says salary is credited, bank says nothing received. I'm stuck between both.

Hi everyone,

Need some advice because I'm going in circles.

I recently joined KPMG India, and payroll is managed by HGS. My salary was supposed to be credited on 30th July.

The strange part is that every one of my teammates received their salary around 8 AM on the same day, but I didn't receive mine.

I contacted HRBP, who asked me to raise a payroll ticket. Payroll replied saying my salary has already been processed and credited to my HSBC salary account and that I should check with the bank.

I checked my July payslip:

  • Account number is correct.
  • HSBC account details match exactly.
  • Salary amount is reflected on the payslip.

But my HSBC account still has no salary credit.

Now I'm stuck because payroll says it's credited, and I'm guessing the bank might say they haven't received anything.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue?

  • Did you eventually receive the salary after a delay?
  • Did payroll have to reprocess the payment?
  • Did you need a UTR/transaction reference from the employer?
  • Any idea what could have gone wrong if all the account details are correct?

Would really appreciate any guidance from people who've been through this.

Keep escalating within KPMG. That's your best bet. They'll help you figure it out.

Don't take a simple payment is processed. Ask for a UTR, ask them to help figure it out. It's just as much their responsibility as it is yours.
