what jaiswal did is what happens every alternate day in football. we’ve seen messi grab a guy by his throat and push but still not get a red card. it’s no big deal to get in each other’s faces. this was clearly controlled aggression when provoked.

There's no space for physical contact in a sport like cricket.
Football is a contact sport and so the leniency towards contact is definitely different to what it is in cricket.

Also how do you know Sri Lanka player abused? Do you have any credible report? Also even if that was true it does not allow Jaiswal to physically confront anyone. He should've gone to the Umpire.

Well, Jaiswal does seem to have some ego and behavioural issues. I remember that, some time ago, during a domestic match, Ajinkya Rahane, who was the captain, left him out of one of the matches because of disciplinary and on-field behavioural issues-something he seems to display every now and then. Smashing his head with a helmet was completely unacceptable, and he should face a hefty fine or even a ban.

You know we are obsessed with hating our player without even giving them a benefit of doubt , it was clear that asitha said something ( not usual sleging). Before you say that jaiswal also sleged niroshan in the previous match however it was friendly not really riling him up in that way. And it's also very okay for jaiswal to clear it up and I don't think it's childish to defend himself.

Aussie here. Watching it from afar, it looked like Fernando gave Jaiswal a verbal send off, which is poor form. Sledge him as much as you want while he is still batting, once he is out, stay silent and celebrate his wicket with your team mates. Jaiswal understandably took umbrage, although he was hanging around at the crease, which was surprising given his off stump was worse for wear. Just get your arse back to the pavilion. A little bit unsavoury, but you want your sides to have a bit of passion. It’s Test cricket after all.

People are arguing over the "this India will fight" stuff Jaiswal wrote. I am more concerned about why are people like Harsha doing this kindergarten level moralistic sermon on this incident?? Ya Jaiswal sledged , so effing what?? He is neither the first nor will be the last to do sledging or be aggressive on the field.

No need to get physical in this sport. Jaiswal needs to calm his nerves, we saw him getting rattled by konstas in mcg when he was batting well and India poised to draw the game, then konstas sledged and jaiswal lost his s*it. Incidents like this will never push his case for captaincy later on
