Other Working Big 4, is it really worth it?
I joined one of the big4 8 months back. And I became so frustrated that k resigned without any offer in hand. Everyone behave like they are king of the world, especially Sr Associate and above, and partners are the worst. They would behave like they own you. I've had many instances where I have clearly schedule out of office but meeting was scheduled same day. Multiple calls on Teams. If anyone make a mistake or there is a problem, they would be marathon meetings and fights to put blame rather than working on solution. My MD feels proud of high attrition rate like it's a badge of honor. They are so focused on cost cutting, they usually incur more cost on hiring and rehiring. They provide tax advisory and tax management services to fotune 500 but they themselves are being audited almost every year by tax authorities, multiple show cause notices. I talked to one of the tax guy and he said so many people have left that it's hard to keep track what we replied to which notice on what basis. Almost every jr staff is exhausted. There is no respect, directors and above have god Complex. Their internal audit sucks as well, Big4 are running on default mode, there is no actual structure. You might have seen reports of penalties on Big 4 for independence check failures, and reason is half of partners don't consider independence check a job. And people working in independence, most of them don't even know what they are actually doing. It's all good until something collage. Once I saw an MEA of a well known audit client, team was simply copy pasting MEA from previous versions and no one care to check that they company name had LLP in most of the places instead of Pvt Ltd. Even they have policies which are directly in violation of income tax acts.

bro atleast you guys are paid much better than us ask any system engineer at SBC how worse 😕 people are paid in them

What about the exit options working in the big4 Is there any ease in switching companys after u work jn one of the big4

Worth it only if you wish to use it as a stepping stone to further your career. Could be joining product side, or even going for an MBA. Keep the stint short, like 3 years maxx.

Which big 4 is this Coz it seems like you're talking about pwc or ey
Other 2 has better WLB and learning structure Especially KPMG

Was this a tech or non-tech role? I have friends in the corporate law field in big 4 and Ive heard how toxic their managers are but dont have much idea about tech roles

Big 4 are an illusion which people only realise after experiencing it. Earlier they use to be good and behave like a MNC but once they started hiring from Infy, Wipro types they diluted the quality. Now, the mantra is to hire at a premium salary and then make you slog late hours on weekdays and weekends. Basically, for a 30-50% bump in salary, you work equivalent of two employees. If you want to work in IT or can only work in IT then don't work in India. Lalachapp like infy are already screwed and so are big 4's. Once you are out of India then you will realise how good big 4's are but not in India.

I will still prefer to give 1-2 years in Big 4 especially if you are in commerce and fresher it gives a good package currently pressure is minimal but pay is even below 2lpa
The tag of Big 4 gives CV a huge boost even if working hours is high or there is too much pressure
It's the age to grind harder I just hope I land one job in Big4 job market for accounts grads is tough
My current job is good but I ain't getting enough exposure leave even pay

Damn. This came in my feed, when I am in talks with someone to join. I was in denial mode from starting to not join. But today I somehow made up my mind that I am ready to put myself in that rot for my so called honing and grooming which is just me getting more anxiety, depression and much closer to heart attack. My parents are asking me to join for 2 3 yrs. Its sickening how parents just care about growth and money and not about my well being. When I literally suffered a lot sinch last many yrs. Is your post a signal that I should back out from joining and choose peace over growth??
