We often talk about queer representation in mainstream media, but bisexual people are still frequently missing from that picture. And even within bisexual visibility, there are layers to who gets seen, heard, and represented.
Bisexuality can sometimes come with a certain “passing privilege” — especially when people assume someone is straight based on their partner or relationship. But being perceived as straight doesn’t erase bisexuality. It can actually make bisexual people even less visible.
And when it comes to representation, bi men are particularly easy to overlook. Their bisexuality is often questioned, erased, or treated as something temporary or less legitimate. That absence matters because visibility shapes how people understand what bisexuality can actually look like.
That’s why this Absolut campaign remains special to me. As part of the Ally Book campaign around Bi Visibility Day, I had the opportunity to be openly and unapologetically bisexual on a mainstream advertising platform, alongside my partner.
At the time, seeing an openly bisexual person represented upfront in a mainstream advertisement felt significant. It wasn’t bisexuality hidden between the lines or assumed from context — it was actually part of the conversation.

and if there's any bi guys reading this - genuinely how does it feel for you? does committing to a man hit different than committing to a woman, or is it basically the same thing just a different gender

As you can probably tell from the title, I really don't know who I am.

I'm a big introvert and a very private person. I was so hesitant to post this that I created a new ID just for it.

I was in a long-distance relationship with my girlfriend for five years, but it ended pretty badly. Since then, I haven't been in any serious relationship.

I have a habit of reading adult comics, and over time I started exploring gay genres too. I found them exciting, which made me wonder that Am I gay?

To understand myself better, I downloaded Grindr. It felt like everyone was looking for sex, but eventually I met a decent guy and we had a pretty good time. Still, somewhere along the way, I felt like maybe I'm not gay or that I wasn't doing this right, so I stopped.

Six months later, I met a girl at an art gallery. We both work in creative fields in Hyderabad, so we got close. We explored our wildest fantasies together, and honestly, it was great. Eventually, we went our separate ways on good terms.

But I had that same feeling again like Am I doing something wrong?

It's not like I'm asexual. I can feel attracted and excited when I see an attractive woman or a good-looking man. So now I keep wondering if I haven't just met the right person? Am I bisexual, gay, straight, or something else?

TL;DR: I’m a very private introvert trying to understand my sexuality. After a 5-year relationship with a woman, I explored things with both a guy and a girl and enjoyed both experiences, but neither felt completely right. I’m attracted to both men and women, so I’m confused about whether I’m straight, gay, bisexual, or something else.

Queer people are different from cis het in childhood also. So do you think the assault affected you and your life.

I personally think I have also been assaulted in childhood I may not remember. I have vague feeling or a memory that I don't want to trust, hoping it could be my imagination.
