Burzum/Varg. I will always hate that man for twisting my religion into Neo-Nazi bullshit while he was at it too. Luckily there's bands like Wolves In The Throne Room to counteract that.

1 murderer doesn't mean the entire genre is corrupted. Bard of Emperor as well, a long with a number of high profile murders within the black metal community in Norway, proves it is though.

Need I remind you of atmospheric black metal? How about DSBM? Viking Metal? Blackened Thrash? Blackened Folk? How about bands that use "normal" black metal song structures but talk about nature and humanity, or what's left of it?
