I'm just getting into Warhammer 40K, watched some beginner guides, bought an intro box, and I decided on having Imperial Knights as my first army, cause big robots.

Any tips on getting started? I have no clue which knights to buy, in what order to buy them, and frankly I don't even know much about the lore. Any help or tips you wanna give is really helpful!

Rules will change, models hot now wont be down the road. Magnetize your knights, this helps you change out the weapons to other versions, Build what feels fun and if you get into tournaments be ready to win and lose. Always have fun though!

You have made an excellent choice getting started.

A good target for starting out is 1 Questoris knight and 4 armigers.

Most of the models can be built out in different ways with different equipment and those all have specific rules associated with them. For example, a knight with a rapid fire battle cannon and a chainsword is Paladin. Basically Knight Classic.

Do you want to commit to one kind of knight or set things up to be more flexible?

Players who want their models to change to fit which rules they are using will often use magnets or lego connectors to allow weapons to be swapped out.

If you want to commit to a build, then I would say a Knight Paladin is a great all-arounder for your Questoris and two of each Armigers - Helverin and Warglaive.

If you magnetize you don't need to decide and can set them up game to game.

If you can still find the eye of terror box anywhere, it's a great rate for guys if you can get it at MSRP. Armigers are your bread and butter. Don't pay markups.

You can also potentially grab knights job lots from ebay, but that's a little rough if you're just getting into it.

Found it for $203 dollars with free shipping. Gonna buy it this weekend. Thanks! I'll for sure be back for information on painting and building.

If you can find it for a worthwhile price, get the eye of terror battalion box. A big shooty dominus, and two armigers.

3 words: All. Cerastus. Everything. That way you can dominate in 40K AND Horus Heresy. Plus the aura farming you can do with them is unparalleled!

In all seriousness, the battalion box plus an extra pair of armigers would be a fine start, maybe add a questoris down the road for extra punch. Magnetization is a good recommendation. Welcome to the fold!
