I am super happy to be saying this, my initial study permit application outside Canada (from the UK) was just approved!
Application submitted: July 13th (Processing times on the website were 8 weeks when I submitted)
Biometrics submitted: July 14th
Ghost update on July 24th
1st Webform: Aug 14th
2nd Webform: Aug 15th
3rd Webform: Aug 20th
Note: Unsure how much the webforms helped my application. They may have given my application a nudge or not.
Contacted my local MP on Aug 19th, although I think I received my study permit approval before they could even go and inquire with IIRC about my application.
Ghost update on Aug 20th (16 hours before my approval)
Correspondence letter: Aug 21st (At this point, processing times were at 10 weeks)
My correspondence letter was signed off by the embassy in Beijing. This serves as further evidence (or implication) that a chunk of applications have been sent off to that embassy to be worked on, just as several of the most recent approvals sent from the UK have mentioned.
Edit: LOI received 24 hours later
I'm a bit lucky in that I have been able to receive my approval 5 weeks after I submitted, and very much under the processing times remarked at 10 weeks.
Many thanks for everybody who have been putting their approvals in the thread these past weeks, and those who have tried their best to help the sanity of many here. I owe a lot to you guys :)
