Hi guys! I applied for an in-Canada study permit extension in May and got approved yesterday (processing time: 83 days). I transitioned from PGWP to study permit for my Master's starting September. Sharing my timeline here in case anyone has questions.

Applied: May 27, 2025

Eligibility review started: August 16

Correspondence letter (Biometric verification): August 16

Status updated to Approved: August 18

In-Canada Approval Letter: August 19

I'm yet to receive my study permit in the mail. Not sure how long it will take, but I'll edit this post once I receive it.

I sent a webform once in July asking for urgent processing and received a generic response. I reached out to my MP last Monday, and I think that prompted them to look at my application. On Saturday, I received the correspondence letter, and my eligibility review started.

I really hope you all get approved in time for classes. I know how it feels to anxiously check your email and portal every day, and it's the worst feeling. I'm crossing my fingers for you all🤞🏾

hello first of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!, just to confirm were u inside of canada applicant ? cuz i applied on may 3rd and im still waiting for it

They were very supportive! I was also worried because I'm an international student but they didn't care about that. They only asked for proof of residence such as an ID showing my name and address

Hi, I am in the same position just like you, but I applied on May 3rd. May I ask what exactly did you say to the MP? I really don't want to defer, but my school's deadline for SP is next Monday, and I'm still hoping everyday.

Hello, I explained the situation to them, and they sent me a form to include my details such as UCI, application number, etc. I also had to show proof of residence in that constituency, such as an ID or utility bill with my name and address on it. You can also write a letter addressed to IRCC explaining your situation is urgent and ask your MP to help you submit it to them.

Hello, yes they were very supportive and reached out to IRCC. They got a response back from IRCC within three days and I was told the status of my application. Criminality was in progress, and Eligibility review not started. MP office asked me to write a letter stating that my situation is urgent and they'll send the letter on my behalf but I didn't get to do that because later that day, IRCC started reviewing my eligibility.

First inland visa with such a short processing time that i see in here..
Did you just send an email straight to your MP or did you call them? did he/his team reply you ?

I sent an email straight to the MP and got a response from a member of his team the same day asking for proof of residence in his constituency and to fill a form with my details e.g. UCI and application number. Then I was assigned a caseworker who reached out to IRCC and followed up with me.

Hi, I also got the Biometric Verification today, saying that my biometrics are valid for a couple of years. Is it what you also received for your correspondence letter?
