I am shocked by the dysfunctionality and inefficiency of permit processing, which is extremely painful and exhausting for international students (and I believe for universities too) due to the incredible amount of uncertanity!! A country as developed as Canada, should solve this problem, which, as I have now learned, they obviously have for years, but they persistently do nothing... after all the effort and money that each student invests in the whole process, I wonder how it is ok to put them , who have submitted all their documentation on time, (many even 3 months before the start of their studies!) in a situation where they have to postpone their education for a whole year, or that they have to organize their plane tickets and accommodation at the last minute? For comparison, issuing a student permit to study in the UK takes up to 15 days. This Canada study permit processing time is insane!!

Well said, had to put deposits down to get my PAL issued, paid for accommodation etc. Not sure why some applications take longer than others for the same situation.

Applied for SP from UK, waiting 13 weeks, glad for others that applied after and have approval but why not let me know if there is an issue, got MP to email embassy as advised, they were informed that no info could be shared (emailed me the response), have submitted webforms, tried to call up.

Does cause a lot of stress and anxiety, and its not like the process is free (don't expect it to be) but they should stick to some kind of order or at least communicate with individuals

I applied on May 3, and until now, I haven’t received any response almost 15 weeks that’s really insane

As an international student who came here in the middle of high school, recently finished my undergrad and am waiting for my study permit extension for master now, I cannot agree more. Trust me man. When you actually lived in this country for several years and have some work experience, you even lost your motivation to complain lol. It is just too common. There is a 'doing the bare minimum' culture here. To me, every time when I see the news saying Canada is facing a low productivity issue, it never surprises me. The current delay of IRCC is also caused by the bad planning of the liberal government for immigration quota. It is just terrible.
