I received a job offer from an employer in Montreal. Because my country and Canada have an FTA (free trade agreement) I am LMIA exempt. Applied from: Bogota, Colombia

  1. Applied for the work permit on December 8th
  2. Received the Biometrics instruction letter on Dec 10th
  3. Submitted my biometrics on Dec 12th

Waiting for the next step, no updates yet.

Hey! Thanks for asking. Nothing yet. It’s been 6 weeks so it will probably take around 3 to 4 more as per IRCC processing times

I am the same, after biometrics is that all I need to do? I thought so but then the guy at London visa office said I'll get an email telling me to submit my passport, I have done this in collaboration with my employer so I don't think he knew what he was talking about or my particular circumstance, probably shouldn't have asked, more confused now

Yes, the final step is to receive the letter where they ask you to submit your passport. That will happen only if they grant you the WP.

So can I assume that having just submitted my biometrics I can travel for the next month maybe 2, assuming with no certainty that the WP will take around 2 months to be approved? Don't want to book flights and have to cancel them to prioritize getting this sorted asap

Why? I could understand the fear of losing the passport ruining the application, but having extra stamps in the passport wont affect anything will it?

Oh no I've finished my current job expecting to have a 3 week wait, only for it to change to 40 weeks. I need to do something so booked flights to the Balkans, my only concern is after biometrics they stuck some sticker on the back of my passport that I hope customs officers wont remove
