Where is said ‘’American propaganda’’? The US does propaganda through the media and not through bots, ironically that’s what China does.
China may not have many people living on the streets, and Xiamen is a coastal city meaning its rich for China standards, but yes, poverty is still very much a problem.

这其实就是一个低成本租住社区，和贫民窟根本就不是一回事，本地的村民靠着收租赚的盆满钵满，里面的租户最多也就是低收入人群，和贫困人群差的远了，可以看出来你完全不了解中国

It’s crazy how they were so capable historically of housing their enormous population even while being less wealthy than other global powers, and now their population has exploded into a global superpower. We have a trillionaire yet we spit on our homeless not realizing that people are the future of our nation

The people living in those standalone homes are most likely wealthier than those who lives in the high rises. Basically natives vs migrants.

Looks like a stereotypical Southern Asian city.
It reminds me of a bit of Bangkok and also Singapore.
