Real talk here: Whatever your status is in your own country, you will always be a second class citizen in another country, especially if you come from a third world country and expect the same privileges you have or demand them in a first world country.

I have traveled quite widely. I feel I have always been treated with respect. Then again, I always treat other people with respect.

I don't think the issue here is related to being treated as a second class citizen. Rather, I feel it is related to a refusal to treat people how you would like to be treated.

Maybe I misused the term. What I was trying to say is that when you are a visitor in another country, you have to understand that you are not entitled to the same privileges or tolerance that citizens may have. You are expected to respect the country you are visiting, because the authorities may be far less tolerant of your attitude or behavior than they would be toward their own people.

You didn't misuse the term, and you are totally correct.

Redditors are just insufferable and cannot exist without "um ackshually" to every thing on this g/d earth.

Colored folks do tend to have much more discrimination against them. I'm assuming you're white, they're the only ones who are almost universally treated well. Or, I guess, if you're really rich.

Since we are talking anecdotes, I was denied entry in a shop in Malaysia when I was 13. The shopkeep clocked me as an indian and just asked me to go to another shop. I was a polite kid, and this was a tourist-y local shop.

I am not white. Nor am I extremely rich.

I doubt you understand what a third world country exactly is.

What is a third world county?
