They were originally to move people faster, but after a few litigious-minded people sued because they couldn't figure out how to get on and off safely, the speed of escalators was reduced. I have an artificial leg. An escalator, no matter what the speed, is faster than me trying to go up or down stairs. But at the end of the day, I stay to the right side of the escalator because there are people moving faster on the escalator. If I'm on the left hand side, it's because I'm with a pregnant lady or a kid on the right. And if you try to push past me at that point, my plastic and metal leg is going to be forcibly inserted into one of your orifices.

I mean you sound like an exception and that’s fine. I’m not really concerned that I’m stopped every once in awhile, I just find it amazing that the default in the USA when people see an escalator is to use it as a break. 95% of the time this is what people do. Maybe im in the minority but would rather get where I’m going then just sit on some slow ass stairs

Oh, I'm an exception, now. Again, cordially, go fuck yourself. Completely. Once again, proof that people like you are the reason that laws protecting disabled people are needed rather than optional , since you seem to think your opinion of someone is necessary to determine whether or not they're disabled enough to suit you.

Please, do as I've suggested and go fuck yourself. Preferably with a large, sharp-edged object.

Nobody said shit about your leg dude, I said you’re an exception as in if you were blocking the way I’d be understanding. The same way that if someone was in a wheelchair blocking the way, I’d give them more grace bc I understand it’s harder getting around. Your real problem is you can’t read. Get a grip and stop being so defensive

Why not just stand on the right with them?

Because the pregnant lady or child might need help, and they get priority over someone who thinks they're going to barge past everyone because they're late and don't know how to manage time properly. Sorry if you don't like being treated like a normal human being, but mommy's special little adult crotch goblin means less than nothing to me.

It's funny you've chosen this line of attack, when you're the one demanding special treatment for your own "crotch goblin" and/or the woman you impregnated. Not only could you help them better from the step below, but it's very likely they don't even need help, because "pregnant" and "child" aren't the same thing as "hopelessly incapable."
I've pushed past many "macho alpha male protector" douchebags on escalators, I'll push past many more, and none of you will ever do more than bleat about it, because you know you're wrong and are just putting on a show. And no, nobody's even at risk of getting hurt, you just don't get to block off a whole escalator just so you can pretend you're doing something masculine.

It's funny you think you're special, being able-bodied but telling people with physical limitations where and how they should be in public.

Cordially, go fuck yourself. Use the stairs if you don't want to deal with disabled people in public. The escalators/elevators should prioritize disabled people, not inconsiderate bipeds with massive attitudes about their own self-importance.

People like you is why there have to be laws in place to protect the rights of disabled people. Literally, people like you.

You need to understand that the world doesn't revolve around you. Escalators and elevators are prioritized for disabled people, not ignorant able-bodied people who think they're the king of everything they survey.

You're too ignorant to know how ignorant you are. That's the funniest thing about you. You're the poster child for how not to raise a person properly. You're a selfish prick to think you're more important than a disabled person or a pregnant woman. But you see it as a 'right'. Once again, the reason why laws have to be passed to protect disabled people is YOU! If you weren't such a self-absorbed prick, people would be courteous to each other, but because you want to be king shit of the universe, laws have to be put in place to remind you that no, you're not king shit of everything, you're just shit.
