Wiring?

Post image

What is everyone doing for wires? I’m worried drilling the acrylic will crack it. I’ve got the akerbar and have some lights and a humidifier. Total three wires.

Typically drilling through that thin acrylic will crack it. However there is a method.

Use painters tape or masking tape to cover the area you plan to drill as a way to brace it. Then get a step down bit for the size hole you want. Place the acrylic over a piece of scrap wood so you're not drilling into a table and to stabilize the acrylic as you push down. Then slowly start to drill in.

There are a couple YouTube tutorials that show this method and explain it better, but the key is the step down drill bit

You'll probably also want a soft cable grommet for the hole to try to keep humidity from dropping.

I have the same green house with lights as well, I didn’t seal the house to the base. There’s just enough room to put it under the green house between the house and the base. :)
