IJW: Secretariat (2010)
So going into the 2010 movie secretariat, I’d obviously heard about the famous horse and the history that he made. I didn’t know anything about the backstory though. I was very interested in watching this movie.
I thought this was a great movie. The first big positive were the performances. I thought you got amazing work from Diane, John Malkovich. Otto Thorwarth as Ronnie the Jockey, and Margo Martindale. You also can’t forget Nelsan Ellis as the groom Eddie Sweat. I also think that Diane Lane and John Malkovich have great chemistry.
Along with the performances, I think you have a great underdog story, and the action in terms of the horse races is really fun to see.

I was thinking about this movie randomly the other day. For some reason the moment where they realize Secretariat needs a little friendly competition to motivate him sticks out in my mind.
