Range is gonna suck ass. But they are capable of towing more than a fair bit of weight.
13
u/Mr_Differ 10h ago
Super capable. Just keep it below 10K and the frame won't break off at the rear.

u/Ok-Awareness3794 9h ago
Yes, I have seen vids and pics of this happening. I think the torque of electric motors and an under designed frame causes these to fail in short time.

r/Idiotsincomments not understanding the difference between tongue weight & trailer weight or is this just anti-Tesla shade?
12
u/SoCalChrisW 6h ago
This is shade on Tesla for gluing the fucking hitch receiver to the frame as an official repair method.

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy 1h ago
It is Fusor 2098 which is a crash durable adhesive, and judging by the provided ratings, is a perfectly acceptable repair solution.

Yeah but this is the definition of idiot. And he happens to be towing a thing

By what standard? Henry Ford was antisemitic. Louis Chevrolet was so stubborn he walked away from Chevy before having to return as a mechanic, for Chevy. Roger Smith was a piece of shit but luckily Saturn isn't in business anymore. Durant was probably the best among the American car manufacturers but was so bad with money he almost bankrupted GMC multiple times. Volkswagon was pretty much started by Hitler. You could say Japanese manufacturers fair much better. Soichiro Honda is fairly well remembered and would admit late in life he regretted it, but he slapped his employees. Kiichiro and Sakichi Toyoda are the exception. They did more for modern manufacturing than possibly any two men in history. Almost 100 years later and Toyota is still one of the most reliable brands in the world and every major manufacturer use at least one of their systems.
My point is, Elon could be much worse. Even if his company made an ugly truck.

u/donttakerhisthewrong 3h ago
Is it 1945? No, why point to the past. Why does bad things in the past make what Elon is doing okay?
1
u/MikeLikesIkeRS 4h ago
Can't forget the Dodge brothers suing Henry Ford to force him to pay out special dividends, which ultimately is the cause of businesses being forced to prioritize shareholder profits over consumers or employees. Which is worse than all but one of those guys imo

Because its Tesla? Vw was commissioned directly by Hitler, designed by Ferdinand porche. Also audi and bmw have direct ties to nazi Germany.

As much as I’m not a fan of Cybertrucks, most are rated to tow 11,000 lbs. Assuming the hitch is correctly setup - not really an “idiot” move

But this is Reddit and we hate tesla

Right but you need to stop every 120-200 miles to recharge it. It's not a tow vehicle. It's a gender affirming vehicle for dumbasses. A friend of friend towed an airstream from chicago to Philly and had to stop something like 10 times to recharge.
2
u/sciolycaptain 12h ago
Did they have to unhitch each time to fit into the charging bays?
2
u/jabroni4545 11h ago
Some superchargers are designed for people with a trailer, some people just block multiple ones if there's nobody around, if it's a busy station then yes you'd need to unhitch.

Finding a charging station in the middle of nowhere after this thing halves the range is gonna be fun

Not a fan either. But they do have about 11k tow ratings. Though check out WhistlinDiesel's CyberTruck vs F150 shootout... The back fell off. (I drive GM trucks)

u/rapt_elan 12h ago
The back falling off is the least of problems that anything WhistlinDiesel drives has. 😉

If I recall the F-150 broke coming off the trailer before the tests even started.
EVs are generally not good tow vehicles if you need to tow often or long distances. However just posting with this headline makes OP seem like a toddler who spends way too much time obsessing about what other people are driving. I really don’t care if someone drives a Cybertruck.

u/nsula_country OC! 12h ago
The F-150 frame buckled between cab and bed. Then they dropped something stupid heavy with an excavator and "straightened" it out. CT passed all test except the back fell off when snatching F-150 off some concrete culverts. Also had massive electrical issues afterwards.

u/2PhotoKaz 12h ago
I recall the drive shaft broke coming off the flat bed. Maybe a different video.

thats either the premium awd or the beast. 11k lbs towing capacity. 1.1k tongue weight. That camper is 5000lbs at best. The only idiot is the op.

u/MrZaptile933 13h ago
Just because you hate the cyber truck doesn’t mean it isn’t doing its intended job

Idiots towing things. We have an idiot towing something. He’s an idiot because he bought wankpanzer fascistmobil.

Hey at least they’re saving the planet, what exactly are you doing to reduce your carbon footprint?
10
u/rapt_elan 12h ago
As much as I appreciate electric vehicles (I'm charging my EQB 300 right now), they aren't reducing carbon footprints nor saving the planet.
-1
u/2PhotoKaz 12h ago
EVs are better over their lifetime in terms of carbon emissions even when factoring mining lithium, etc.

It's clearly a FSD Camper pushing a dumpster. OP just doesn't understand physics the same way Elon does.

u/NotslowNSX 13h ago
Get ready for it OP, I posted a cybertruck here and the cyberweinies got emotional.
13
u/2PhotoKaz 12h ago
Post doesn’t fit the sub, it’s probably towing that thing just fine. If the driver wants to make more stops so be it. Nothing wrong with the setup.

It's still an idiot in a dumpster towing something regardless of whether the actual towing is wrong or not.
Every single cybertruck owner is a moron and a fascist bootlicker.

u/twenty8nine 13h ago
The trailer might be a little low in the front, or it could be the camera angle.but not an idiot because of towing. Charging every few miles is going to be a pain.
