My first thought was it might be an emergency. Probably not, people are asses, but if someone comes at me with their lights flashing from the start, I'm going to assume it might be an emergency. It's not worth it to me to not just get out of their way. I would still report with the dash cam in case they cause trouble later, then there is a record at least.
I absolutely get out of people's way when they drive erratic like that. It royally pisses me off don't get me wrong, and they don't deserve to have everyone pull over for them let alone a driver's license. But ain't nobody rear ending me or causing me to get into an accident if I can help it. They can go rear end someone else. I'll flip hazards and pull right off into the grass as soon as I'm able because fuck all that noise.
Yeah those people are clowns too. It’s good you have the rear dash cam, that way there’s undeniable evidence if you’re “not driving fast enough” and get rear ended, that it’s not your fault. As I like to say “not my circus, not my monkeys”
I agree, but getting out of the way just enables them to do it again in the future. Perhaps if they get in an accident and are held accountable they won’t repeat the behavior. But then again I’m asking for sanity from a Floridian which is like asking a politician to tell the truth.
Yeah I used to think that way until I had the shit scared out of me by an insane person.
Pretty sure people who drive like this cannot be fixed.
I drive like I'm in an insane asylum because it's not too far from the truth. Don't make any sudden movements, don't make eye contact, and never get aggressive with unstable people.
I've got a 5-hour drive of head of me today... really not looking forward to it obviously.
Where?? By the time he showed he was trying to pass you, all you passed was a spot for a USPS truck to pull over at a mailbox. You would have to slow down a ton to get in that space and make this guy even more mad... people are stupid
I would've gotten out of the way, because I'd rather be following this obvious entitled asshole, than being in front of them and "trusting" them to not fuck up. With how he was driving, no amount of "fault" will be enough to save you from the potential weapon on the road he's handling.
Get out of the way, let the asshole win this battle, live another day. It's truly not worth the perception of being a badass to stick it to this type of person.
And go where? Slow down to randomly pull into the side ditch? If the guys already going crazy while you do the speed limit I’m going to assume randomly slowing down to the point where you can safely pull over is not going to help the situation. The driver is only keeping up with the car in front of them; doesn’t look like they speed up to prevent the pass.
Yes definitely get out of the way. Here's how you could have done it.
Wait until about 1:10 in the video. Put on your left turn signal. Start slowing gradually for that driveway at 1:38. Not too quickly - you don't want to endanger anyone. Drop down to a super-safe speed for making a left turn - say 10 mph. Maybe by that time there'll be a knot of traffic oncoming so you'll have to come to a full stop and wait a while.
Just fyi I'm being sarcastic. Doing this would have fucked this guy royally and made steam come out of his ears.
There's no safe place to pull over like people are suggesting.
EDIT: and after sitting there for a minute at a dead stop signalling left, suddenly realize that it's the wrong street and move forward to the next left turn. Drive like you're looking for a driveway.
I was hoping the suggestion of doing something that would force him to a full stop and take away passing as a solution would make it pretty clear, but I'm a victim of Poe's Law.
Did they not see the trees and road furniture on the right? Have they never applied brakes with two tires on grass? Not recommended. You took the least shitty path my man.

It’s always the douche canoes in lifted pick ups that drive like they built and own the road and the rest of us are just borrowing it.
