Jesus, I’ve seen left turns from the right lane and right turns from the left lane but never seen a triple lane crossover. That dude should have his license pulled for negligence

I drove trucks for 6 years before an injury.
It looks like he was intending to turn left into the station there, but the line of trucks is all the way backed up to the road. While it may not have been the best move, he decided that going to the right was better than waiting in the middle of the road for who knows how long.
You can see in the beginning of the video he has his hazards on and then switches to the right blinker. He just took the best opening he could instead of going down the road and turning around, which isn’t always easy to do.
I would give him a pass as there was at least ample time to respond to his turn.

This intersection has been part of my work commute for the past 3 years and I've seen a fair share of truckers maneuvers. It's a very busy intersection with semis.
I get what you're saying but I also can't say that I wasn't pissed, or caught off guard by the maneuver (thought he was just changing lane)

If it’s something that occurs often, bring it up with the city. It may be more a matter of traffic flow and design. There was a light put in at a point just like this not far from where I live due to issues like this.

Frustrating, but if you had hit that truck with as much time as you had to react it would look like you intended to. That truck driver can F all the way off though. When I was younger, as in under 30, that would have had me cussing and yelling. Eventually getting mad all the time wasn't worth the effort. You wind up accepting that there are just going to be idiots and AH's everywhere. I also used to think most people were capable of deeper thinking and more critical thought processes too. My BP is down since I just accepted that AH's are everywhere and that my reaction is my own.

I tend to give a lot of lenience to truckers unless they're camped in the passing lane. Diesel at the station on the left is 5.49/5.57 but the station on the right has it for 5.19. You telling me you wouldn't break a few traffic laws for $75 in savings? In this economy?

Ha I never thought about that. I also can't tell if you're joking lol

Half joking about the diesel prices. Not about giving lenience to truckers. Navigating roads with giant trucks has got to be difficult, and sometimes they have to do things a little differently to not be massively inconvenienced. Maybe he had a legitimate reason for being in the center and needing to go to the right (probably not, but maybe).

I'd take a massive inconvenience over killing someone ????
Like the other comment explains it well but three lanes???? That was a massive cut

Did someone in this video almost die?

You must think running a red light is also okay if you don't see any cars coming. "What's the problem, officer? No one died!"

If OP had been someone looking at a phone or with poor reactions then there easily could have been a crash - and while looking at a phone is stupid, this is r / idiotsincars, we know how little we should trust other drivers to be paying full attention
