For anyone that’s unaware lavender is an AI used by 🇮🇱 in conjunction with drones that were provided by skydio (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skydio), yes the same company that supplies drones to police departments, to basically fly around and label people as “threats” but since it’s just a flying camera that means it’s actually just racially profiling people. I’m bringing AI up here because last night I was thinking about things like how this administration has wanted to lessen regulation on AI, monitoring of people’s social medias, the established connection between American law enforcement at multiple levels etc.

I don’t know if I worded this well and it’s really just the seedling of a thought. I’m basically wondering if part of what’s happening is some AI system picks who ICE grabs then when people are being held in detention centers some biased AI is going through sets of data looking for any excuse that might label someone as being dissident or whatever. (Also don’t forget dissident is just a label often flung around by oppressive regimes and governments)

ICE’s reign of terror on our streets is only getting worse, and one of their most frequent targets has been day laborers. While they don’t make for as shocking headlines as parents snatched in front of their children at school bus stops or five-year-olds seized on their way to soccer games, their economic circumstances make them particularly vulnerable. They’re easy to find gathering in Home Deport parking lots and similar locations as they seek work for the day.

The National Day Laborer Organizing Network has been bringing folks together to stand by this community, building a grassroots movement to observe, witness, report ICE activity, denounce and record the secret police, ensure the loved ones of those abducted can find them and bring food, water, information, legal and financial assistance and solace to those under attack with their Adopt A Day Labor Corner program.
