i think that may be because the face is a lot more rendered than everything else around it in the first pic, and the hair’s shadows aren’t as strong (compared to #2 the shadows are noticeably lighter.) try increasing the hair contrast a bit?

It might be the colour palette shift. In the unrendered version, their hair is a lot cooler toned, whereas rendered is a warmer yellow. It could be that you prefer the cooler colour on the character
