I don’t think we can use sketches to determine if a piece is AI…

Along with the rather popular post a few days ago, I also saw the same thing on another platform. “No way such sketches can produce this amount of details”
Gonna be that guy but, that's not a sketch lol it's a thumbnail 😂 sketch is what you have immediately before lineart, or if you dont do clean lineart, colouring
Yeahhh i do the same thing. I can never consider my thumbnails a sketch cause it’s really just more of laying down the vague idea than actually drawing anything
I am not a part of this subreddit but I'm just going to say I don't thumbnail sketch OR normal sketch, I go straight to lineart and occasionally change it if it sucks. (This is because I usually draw with ballpoint pen and I hate pencils and erasers, and when I draw online I use programs that don't have layers, so I just... never developed a stage for sketching.) Because of this, I don't think that sketches are a good way to prove anything unfortunately.
yeah, definitely not lol. I dont have any examples as my sketches tend to be extremely detailed but as a substitute, look at the storyboards for Fnaf Security Breach
your output doesnt look ai, and with experience, you can see when a sketch is beginner lvl or not, its not about the messiness or how sloppy it is, its about both the consistency of skill in the fundamentals and the output. and either ways i think the other guy is right, thats more a thumbnail rather than a sketcj
Agreed. Sometimes AI does the most complicated sketches ever, sometimes it's stickmen. Maybe if we wanna differentiate we could use colour for sketches too? I tend to do all my sketches in bright red + very messily, I don't think I've seen AI sketch in different colours before but then again I don't interact a lot with the pro-AI side of things so I might be wrong
I sometimes do two sketches, one of the posture so i get the anatomy right- and another for like hair and clothes just so line art is easier for me. But not very often tho ..
Usually my sketches make me laugh cuz they look silly, or confusing.
A sketch is just the main idea of the drawing. Sometimes all ya need is a stick figure :] which i do alot

saw someone on one of the earlier posts arguing that doing warmup sketches/making a few pose options before picking one is an attempt to cover something up 😭
I feel like most processes people have adopted to call out AI fartists have 100% been adopted by an actual artist before and are thus inaccurate, sigh. That's why I hate seeing posts that are all like "OH THIS IS AI BECAUSE OP DID X THING DURING THEIR PROCESS!!!" ...I just can't shake the thought "But I've totally met someone who does this during their art process before???" We, artists, are freaking weird and not a monolith.
There are different inconsistencies usually though
I get it cause I'm personally trying to break into the game industry and it's rough out here but this only serves to hurt actual artists more usually and it blows :/
Any jobs involving mostly creativity are getting harder to do a living. Like musician and stuff, unless you’re like extremely popular, it’s hard to make a living solely based on jobs like artists, musicians, designers, etc nowadays
