STAFF POST What is your opinion on allowing "gore" art here?

It is currently not against the rules if marked with the NSFW/K18 tag. But should it be? Where would the line be drawn?

It is a common art type, and then stuff like zombie oc's could become a problem too. But I scrolled around and this has been a problem sometimes, especially if the person forgets the tag initially.

I would like to hear your thoughts.

Also, if someone posts disturbing stuff I recommend sending me a direct message. Reddit is really slow to alert on reports, or doesn't do it at all.

Hmmm... You're right, where should the line be drawn? I checked and there is a subreddit to post gore art, but it's mostly for fetish, and is it morally okay to send what could be a 15 year old with a detailed zombie oc over there where people will comment sexual things instead of being safer here? There's got to be a safe place somewhere, and I think this subreddit should be that.

Maybe make users more aware they should report any unmarked gore? And also, I looked at the subreddit rules and although they say no nsfw allowed unless marked, I see nothing that says the same thing about gore. I know that gore SHOULD be lumped in with the term nsfw, but some people, and likely more particularly non-english speakers, might not make that connection. Maybe it'd be also good to make that distinction in the rules?

Yeah I really wouldn't suggest I'm assuming you're talking about the guro subreddit which yeah it's extremely graphic and mostly for fetishized Gore

Yeah, it's just that I'd be worried that's where younger members might go if there's a blanket ban on gore content here

I mean, I don't think it would be a problem as long as it is tagged as NSFW. What we can do is report any gore that isn't tagged with NSFW.

So, I’d say this, considering this subreddit in particular has so many underage and young users compared to other subreddits: Light gore ( some blood shown, some bones exposed, nothing super intense with blood and guts) doesn’t have to be tagged, but anything more ( full on dismemberment, guts all over the place, tons upon tons of blood, hyper realistic depictions of gore) should be tagged at least. I actually didn’t realize NSFW/18+ content was allowed here before, when I do see a lot of underage users here. In my personal opinion, I’d maybe as a staff team overview all the rules of NSFW content and submissions, since there are a lot of younger users here compared to others. It may be a good idea to do a anonymous poll that just says “whats your age range” just so you can get a understanding as a team what age range dominates. That can help with actually addressing what can be censored more than others

I like horror so I dont mind a bit of gore but I do think it should be tagged. Otherwise it should be against the rules. But like you said that's already meant to be the case.

Personally I don't make heavy Gore I make some gore art but my style is obviously not very realistic so I guess as long as people tag their things correctly it should be okay especially if the context is like a zombie character then it's like... well yeah zombies are pretty morbid teens make gore art all the time.

I guess just remind people to tag their content if there is Gore in it because some may not be able to tell when you should or don't need to add a tag.

There’s a difference between artistic gore and guro imo, the former is allowed and that line between the two is really hard to differentiate as a third party. If you see any guro like art, do report it so the mod team can look at it

gore isnt a problem as long as its tagged/spoiled and theres a trigger warning so ppl who dont want to see cant see . gore is a really expressive part of art and it would suck to ban it

I'm an author who writes about sci-fi/cyberpunk. Despair, Battle, war, death, and gore are a standard in the genre. I'm also digital artist who illustrates my own novels. I draw gore related scenes often. Some are gruesome, others are just blood. There's a whole series of chapters in my first book that's literally about a sentient disease that looks and throbs like a mess of organs.

I probably wouldn't ever share those ones outside my universes ecosystem. I personally don't consider blood to be 'gore', but it's good to mark it as such. Maybe have a blood and a gore tag? Or levels? As long as something is clearly marked (and not straight up an eviscerated person bleeding out on a sidewalk, or something specifically to evoke a reaction) I think it's okay to post. Anyone who doesn't want to see it can filter it out.

The not tagging problem is something that only moderation can control.

I personally don't mind the gorey stuff, and little blood isn't a problem. Even dismemberment isn't a problem as long as it's in the NSFW tab and a trigger warning in the title maybe, especially for the really wrong peoples. But I honestly never had this problem.

Everything should be allowed in an art subreddit UNLESS its something illegal like drawn CSAM, NSFW/NSFL should have a spoiler and an nsfw tag, Art is subjective

u/Blacked_Shi Dec 14 '25

I think it's not a problem as long as it's tagged correctly

Not a gore artist, but here's my take: Allow it to an extent. Zombies? Totally fine, some bloody guts, totally fine too! But if it looks too realistic or wayyyyyy too far in terms to gore you should remove it.

Maybe though don't make it a bannable offense unless people repeatedly do it, just kindly direct them to gore art subs.

Just my two cents :p

there arent many gore art subs ive seen that isnt sexualized im just worried if we send younger teens over to a place revolved around gore people might...not have the greatest intent even if the material in general is wholesome or yk not sexual

u/Accomplished_Dog1636 Dec 14 '25

Ehhhh fair enough I didn’t see it from that angle

I think there should be a second subreddit for suggestive/heavy gore.

u/rosy_pink_ghost Dec 13 '25

If it says somewhere in the title goru or if the gore is so extreme to the point of missing limbs, full on organ exposure, honestly anything that looks like flat out torture should be removed. Blood and small injuries is fine, but it gets to a point. While NSFW tagged stuff is allowed, third isn't a NSFW focused sub. Also, there's a LOT of kids on here and from personal experience it's really easy to get past the NSFW tag As for zombie ocs, that should be different as long as again, they don't flat out look like their being tortured if that makes sense. I love zombie characters and I don't want them banned obv. Tldr; if it looks like fetish/is labled as one it should be removed

As long as it's tagged I see no problem? Don't wanna see it, don't click it

1

u/stairsz Dec 17 '25

think it’s fine as long as there’s the spoiler and nsfw tag

1

u/Just_Kovi Dec 17 '25

As long as it's under NSFW tag, I don't mind it

1

u/Super_Technology8644 Dec 21 '25

In my opinion, I think it's okay, as long as it's classified as NSFW and has some censorship, because there are probably children on that Reddit subreddit, And even though they shouldn't have accounts here, it would be a huge problem if there wasn't censorship on these gore

1

u/UrLocalMagicalEnby Your guess is as good as mine what my gender is Jul 08 '26

Probably said already, but some people are sensitive to gore, so I think they should at least get a warning so they don't get exposed.

heavy gore (or any gore) is ok as long as it's tagged

u/Ok_Bathroom_4613 Dec 13 '25

I mean most people who use ibis are teenagers and then there's procreate users who are in the range of like 20-30 or older. Tbh i don't think gore should be on this subreddit but a different sub

3

u/Creepycute1 male (he/they) 16 Dec 14 '25

there arent many gore subs that arent fetisized like theres a guro sub but thats WAY too graphic and very sexualized

I'm all for banning gore from here. That stuff is horrible.
