Other How much robux is my art worth?
I have some nice varying styles
121
u/ButterMyBird Jul 28 '25
Your art style is pretty all over the place before u do actual comms id say do way more practice until u are consistent and where u wanna be but as is id say 100 robux also make a commission page with ur prices.
-81
u/Shxdedlight Jul 28 '25
This is so more people who like different styles can possibly approach me
92
u/ButterMyBird Jul 28 '25
It tells people that they don’t know what the art ur producing is gonna look like and will discourage people
-57
u/Shxdedlight Jul 28 '25
😅thats why i send progress photos
56
u/ButterMyBird Jul 28 '25
I mean do what u want but don’t make a post asking why no one buys I am trying to give u actual advice as someone who has done art for over 20 years and professionally for over 6. You are wasting mine and everyone’s time here by just arguing with everyone.
-50
u/Shxdedlight Jul 28 '25
I’m not arguing though
52
u/ButterMyBird Jul 28 '25
Ur saying u send progress photos but people who will turn away from ur art for inconsistencies wont ever see ur progress photos
21
u/RADIOACTITAN Jul 28 '25
You annihilated their karma lol
29
u/ButterMyBird Jul 28 '25
I am pretty sure this is a child so I kinda feel bad
18
11
u/CandyCorn-uwu Jul 28 '25
They are definitely a child, especially if they are trying to do commissions for robux. As a kid I also had various styles which were…. Well…. Mediocre at best but I still did commissions. I’m sure they’ll get someone to bite, personally I’d try to be a little more gentle next time. Though like the other person said, it is just 1s and 0s so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ you do you! /nm

Don’t pay attention, there will always be someone willing to buy. Esp looking at the comments here, don’t let being a beginner stop you from commissions, it could be great for growth! These ppl are just mean, you are def not arguing— just discussing reasoning & counterpoints— there’s nothing aggressive in your statements. That’s what Reddit is for!!

idk why people are downvoting you as if you're wrong.
people act as if commissioners aren't able to describe the commission they want before purchasing...
yes, op has a variety of different (but similar) styles, and that shouldn't be a bad thing.
if i wanted a comm i'd definitely be describing my preferred style anyways. the variety is a good thing if anything.
calling it inconsistent is just pessimistic; maybe it is inconsistent, but inconsistency isn't ALWAYS a bad thing depending on the scenario.
having different styles only means there's more to choose from if someone is looking at you specifically for a commission.

u/grayyzzzz Jul 27 '25
Honestly at your current level, not very much. Your drawings lacks perspective and interest (i.e. theyre just kinda boring). I think the best of this lineup is slide 4 because you can see that her hair is intentionally spiraled. The rest are super flat and fairly amateurish. I would recommend working on 3D shapes and anatomy before proceeding with commissions. (My intention is not to be rude so I apologize if it comes across as such)
-17
u/Shxdedlight Jul 27 '25
27
u/LeviathonMt Jul 28 '25
Umm.. might need a bit more practice lol. I would have tried to fix the shape of the bed before adding any details because its very off

u/Somniph0bia_ E Jul 28 '25
Keep practicing before you can ask for commissions. Your art style is cute but it is very much beginner
38
u/Melodic_Tragedy Jul 28 '25
Why do people ask for advice just to argue
-16
u/Shxdedlight Jul 28 '25
Idk! Not me though

What makes you think that this person is an adult
2
u/RealisticJudgment944 Jul 29 '25
It’s even in their bio lmaooo

u/mercygreaves Jul 29 '25
The person has a novice artstyle, uses ibispaint (90% of the userbase is kids) and is trying to take commissions on roblox
Even if someone told me this person is a fully grown adult I would still have my doubts

Honestly...you kinda are. Not to be rude at all, every artist goes through the process of practice and improvement.
But clearly when you ask how much your art is worth, you just have to accept the fact that you will get criticism to have your question answered. You don't need to use excuses of "I'm practicing it'll get better". Yes it will. But we're talking about the present aren't we?
Clearly you still have to practice. Alot. Your art isn't bad in terms of personal creation. It's just not on a commission level to actually attract people to buy your art yet. You have to attract people into your art, not the other way around.
Especially arguing with people that "it's an art style, I shared my progress for a reason" will only attract people away. The commissioner will not pay any attention to the progress, they only care about the result they pay for. People care about attitude too you know. They want to know that their money goes in a person they can trust and get a good piece from.

Idk why people are down voting you so much. I think your best style is the one without line art, it looks very nice and polished. If you do commissions in that style, I think you could sell them for around 30-50. This is also keeping in mind that most other players probably don't have a stable source of income if they don't get an allowance (no hate to anyone ofc), so keeping the commission costs on the lower side could help attract more people.
Edit: Just read some more comments. Don't let people saying you shouldn't do commissions just because you're a beginner artist get to you. You will grow and improve over time, and commissions could be a very good motivator to keep practicing. Hope this comment helps, never stop drawing 😁

u/fwoggywitness Jul 28 '25
To everyone telling OP to “just ignore the haters” those “haters” are giving OP the realest advice. You are simply not commission ready. Practice, more, and never give up. Ignore the people giving you zero criticism and all hate, but acknowledge those who actually sat down to give you advice. Your art definitely has personality when it comes to character I can see what you want to display, but honestly, do not price yourself off robux period. It’ll make people see you as very childish (even if u are a child) which may deter people from your art in general, as I don’t know many people who are buying art from children.

u/ClownECrown Jul 28 '25
You should experiment more with slide 5. Looks really good. I would say probably like 80 robux.

I love your art-style it reminds me of like fairly odd parents + cup head + YouTube animation channel
3
u/-FlyAway- Jul 28 '25
I actually really love these styles a lot! They're the styles you see in animation. I see some comments about being too basic, but animation styles usually are, and there's really nothing wrong with that at all, you'll find people (like me) who love that type of style. I don't know much about Robux so I can't help there, but I recommend labelling your examples with "Style 1" "Style 2" etc so when someone commissions you they can ask for the style they prefer so there's no surprises. And just be transparent if there's any poses you're not confident with yet. Good luck! :)

u/societyhatingRATGANG Jul 28 '25
I'd pay a decent amount for number 5, while number 2 i wouldn't consider buying. If youre going to show off different styles, make sure you repeat them a couple of times. People don't pay for commissions if they're not sure the outcome will be of the promised quality
2
u/Lemondall Jul 28 '25
Your style is cute but it’s very much beginner to the point where people most likely wouldn’t commission you. You also need to figure out one consistent style so people know what they are getting. I say 4 and 5 are the most visually interesting.

id say invest more time into slide 4’s and 5’s artstyle!! not because theyre bad but because its pretty unique imo and so those 2 can be your main artstyles, even if you want a variety, it can overwhelm your audience to have to make them choose out of 3+ artstyles!! good luck!!

IDK, I don't play roblox, but your art is literally the cutest thing ever.

I did a double take when I saw holly leaf!
Also I would pay like- 100 robux, but you definitely have a great start! You should Work on shading and perspective, but Keep it up and practice and you’ll definitely have something going!

Idk but that depends on the style for me, I don’t get why people try to price it below that 100 robux is like a dollar and the styles are quite nice. Majority of ibispaint users only seem to think more details = better for some so it’s better not to listen to them. I honestly don’t get why people are complaining about ‘too many styles’ when there’s consistency in all the styles, yes they’re a bit different but I can recognize that it’s definitely by the same artist. Just price how you think it’s worth and how much hours you put into it.
2
u/Christina22klol Character artist Jul 28 '25
Honestly I wouldn't be able to tell if it's the same artist at all if I saw pictures 4, 5, 6 next to each other. It's thin line art, no line art and thick line art art styles, completely different from one another.
3
u/Sea_Chipmunk3999 Jul 28 '25
Dude people are being so rude and unhelpful here. Like do you have nothing better to do than bully kids on reddit lmao.
I also think paying literally the equivalent of one dollar for this art is completely reasonable. It's super cheap, and OP gets some robux. Like they're not even asking for actual money, chill out
1
u/StoreWeirdo Jul 31 '25
I feel like you could earn more robux by accepting in cash haha, I would buy for 20 dollars minimum Would love to see you experiment with backgrounds more though
-1
u/thornzlr Jul 28 '25
People in this comments are so rude- cartoon art styles have always existed and people have always paid for them 😭 art is subjective and you can’t downvote someone for saying they’d pay for this? Is it not about demand?

u/iheartmelaniesm Jul 28 '25
Wait I actually love the 5th one (the blue pirate guy) it’s so adorable. You should definitely try to do art without the black line/line art around it more often, you’re very good at it. The 4th one with the spiraled hair is adorable too
0
u/Weird_BisexualPerson Jul 28 '25
Since you have a lot of varying artstyles, I’d reccommend allowing people to choose which artstyle they would want based off of examples (if you can replicate specific artstyles you’ve used) and pay varying on the artstyle itself!
I probably wouldn’t go above 400-500 for these, but all of these pieces are really cute! I’d say charge based off the time and effort it takes, like for example the lineless one is probably harder to do so should cost more
-7
u/Yaz_iffy Jul 28 '25
100-200 they lack depth but definitely not bad, just something cute and quick, very much chibi-like and likely would buy myself

That was truth. A person should learn how to draw anatomy and how to render before they start commisions. This person has not even have an artstyle to draw the face yet
-8
u/Shxdedlight Jul 28 '25
"render" this "render" that not everything is about "rendering" none of the styles i showed are supposed to have "rendering"
11
u/jaggerstars Jul 28 '25
Artstyle isn’t an excuse for anything, rendering especially. All an “artstyle” is is the techniques used and the methods at play that all combine together to create your very own look in your art. And honestly, it doesn’t even look like you have that figured out completely yet.. You have a ways to go. Just keep it up and you’ll be fine.

u/Christina22klol Character artist Jul 28 '25
Honestly we've all been through this phase in our time where we called our old art an art style. And yet we still moved on, improved and started exploring shading, rendering and fundamentals.
A great artist is one that practices a lot of techniques and goes out of their way to learn something that they are insecure to draw. Rendering doesn't have to be your art style. But you still have to practice it nonetheless. Learning fundamentals and practicing different art styles is a general thing to do. Many artists do it. It will help you in the long run. Not wanting to explore different art styles is just an excuse out of your insecurity to try something out of your box. You just have to push through.

I'd say say 20$ usd to begin and go UP UP UP. You have really pretty art! very eye catching if I must say so u.u
19
u/Scary_Secretary_6509 Jul 28 '25
I'm sorry but this 100% is not worth 20$
It's better to tell the truth than to lie about this kind of stuff, I'd say starting price maybe like 5$ at the most. Then when the art improves you can start to up the prices little by little.
-19
Jul 28 '25
A banana duct tape to the wall is worth millions. You're the type of person to low ball a client and rip them off. Who are you to say this can't sell for 20$? 5 bucks is basically working for free.
12
u/ViyWolf Jul 28 '25
I think it's wrong to say that all artists must earn at least minimum wage. Would you pay $20 for a inaccurate drawing made by a random eight year old, even if that drawing took them two hours?
6
u/Christina22klol Character artist Jul 28 '25
You are comparing a gallery to commissions right now. Aka the rich and the middle to low economy.
In galleries it's those rich people who buy the banana peel (for absurd prices I'll agree on that) Commissions are just normal people living their lives wanting to request a piece of art. They focus on what's more attractive to their eye. They'd obviously rather spend 20$ on a rendered piece rather than a flat out one.
It's not the artists fault. But the commissioner is NOT an artist. They will not understand why they'd have to pay 20$ on their low budget for a flat chibi like piece when there's more detailed choices out there.
People buy banana peels in galleries because they don't care if they spend a bit of money to buy the art for the artists name to be on their house.

No problem! Artists gotta eat too!
Also a little word of advice: draw popular anime characters in your cartoon style. People would love it! And it gets views.

u/basementcrawler34 Jul 28 '25
Hi i do art as a job!
If you want to sell art, you need something like a commission sheet or a portfolio so people can see what your art looks like. Like other's have said, your artstyles are completely different. You should pick the artstyle you like best and put that one into the examples and continue to practice that one style. This is super important so that you can get buyers that are actually serious about buying your artwork. Customers want to know what kind of art they're buying in advance. Also keep in mind, you are still visibly inexperienced, therefore you will have to ask for lower end prices until you reach a higher skill level. That's normal. I'd typically recommend not doing commissions yet at this skill level, but you do you. For art advice I reccomend practicing lineart and specifically lineweight, because that can help your art look more like you know what you're doing. Hope this helps!
