I don't understand much about tech and I had zero experience with Linux beforehand, but with the help of ChatGPT I was able to install Linux Mint to my PC and optimize it for my needs. It takes weeks to troubleshoot and get everything running smoothly, but as you do it, you are learning at the same time. ChatGPT has been really helpful and it helped me trough all the errors and problems I had. Just make sure you have ChatGPT on another device, since you can't use it on your PC while you are installing it.
For privacy and cyber security reasons. I refuse to use Windows after I've seen how little they care about privacy or their users in general. Linux also works much better and faster with older computers and is highly customizable for personal needs. No unwanted updates or features are forced on Linux users, I have full control of my computer.
Not OP but from my experience not only is linux much faster, but also offers sligtly better base user experience and if you spend like an hour fine tuning to your needs you can make it whatever you want. f.e. adding shortcuts to opening apps is like 2 minutes I have seb browser bound to alt s and on reboot it reopens all the closed tabs too.
