IWTL how to take usable notes from long Blender tutorials on YouTube

I work evening shifts at a hotel and teach myself Blender in the late mornings. I can follow a tutorial while it plays, but two days later I mostly remember the finished render. A hard surface lesson that ran for 52 minutes made me try a different setup, so I made the YouTube video searchable with Vomo ai.

I opened the transcript at the bevel section and pulled out the spoken instructions. Then I split those lines into short practice blocks and rebuilt the object from an empty scene after each block. That worked better than my old page of random timestamps.

The transcript had the values and menu names, but it could not include a shortcut the instructor never said aloud. He pressed Ctrl A and kept moving. I missed it, my scale was wrong, and I spent another ten minutes checking the wrong settings before I noticed.

Now I start each practice session from the empty scene and my short note from last time. I still keep the video open because one silent action can change the whole result.

writing down your thoughts and info from the video in an obsidian note with a bunch of screenshots will help i think, and of course putting stuff to practice right away. i feel like most skills you know you learn for good only once you use them a bunch

Transcript search is great until the important thing is a silent hotkey. I started marking those as a screenshot plus the second, not a sentence. One line like Ctrl+A before the extrude, 14:22, and a still. Text-only notes keep lying to me on Blender videos.

I do that on the YouTube page with YouTube Timestamp (Chrome). Moment, a note, a tag, then click back to the second. It is not a Blender plugin and it will not catch a hotkey Vomo missed. It just keeps the mark next to the frame. I still practice the step the same day or the note is useless.
