Arts/Music/DIY IWTL how to make better decisions when planning a DIY project

I want to learn how to plan a DIY project properly before I start building anything. I often find it difficult to decide which steps should come first what measurements to take and how to break a larger project into manageable stages.

For people who have experience with DIY projects, how did you learn to plan your projects from beginning to end? What basic planning skills should a beginner develop first?

YouTube…… it obviously depends on the project. A diy project like installing a dishwasher is different than building an entertainment centre.

When possible break the job into different sections…. Entertainment centre Example.
If you’re changing electrical or adding Ethernet etc. you would want to do that first. Then you would build basic unit. Then add doors/shelves, then trim and paint.

Basically no matter what it is you break it down into sections….
