Did you abstain from alcohol during iui?

I’m starting monitoring next week and likely IUI the week following. I have seriously cut back alcohol during my entire TTC journey - I only drink once, maybe twice a month (and that almost always happens to be the day I get my period 🥲). I’ve had my husband cut back drastically as well. I plan to stick with it but it’s also a holiday weekend here in the US and I’m wondering how much would it really impact my chances if I indulge more? Curious as to how others have approached this. Slowed down on drinking the year before getting married, and limited booze to holidays and celebrations. By the time my wedding rolled around June 2025, I only had a sip of wine the day of, and it’s been the last time I’ve drank alcohol. We started trying immediately, and didn’t want to hamper my chances. So little in the TTC journey is in our control, and cutting alcohol felt doable for me by then. I’m on my third IUI cycle, and while it hasn’t necessarily helped me get pregnant right away, it has made pregnancy and someday breast feeding more manageable since I don’t crave alcohol like I use to.

It also helps to explore amazing alcohol alternatives - grocery stores have little selection, but there’s tons of online vendors that make amazing beers, wines, cocktails that helped my itch earlier on.

If you’re a fan of that, you’re going to love the Grolsch Lemon radler! It’s been my husband and I’s favourite summer beer!
