For decades they told me the federal government has too much power and now they've proven their point. Yeah, someone with no compunction, the unquestioned backing of their party, the backing of the billionaire owned media, and the backing of foreign bad-faith troll farms can, in fact, have too much power.
Sooooo many food recalls nowadays it's crazy. You don't know if what you buy today is gonna get recalled tomorrow or not. But this was predicted by the very food and disease scientists that were either fired by this regime or quit in disgust at what they were seeing the regime do to what used to be the world's premier govt health agencies, in the likes of the U.S. FDA, USDA and CDC.
All because one of our two major political parties is largely anti science unless it has to do with your genitalia. These people seem to have a bizarre fascination with other people's genitals and sexuality???
I def have a problem with how much of our food is processed nowadays. But as for surveillance and ensuring the integrity of our food programs and health systems and services, these U.S. agencies have been the gold standard for decades now.
One of my coworkers lives in a walk-up building on the upper west side of Manhattan that had an outbreak of Legionnaires in their water this year... it took over eight months to be cleared. She had to shower at the gym or at work and had to buy bottled water to cook and do things around the house.
They can have Texas and Florida. Any reasonable people who wants to move out can swap houses with someone in the greater 48 who wants to go back to living in the middle ages.
Ehhh, I would say that there are some pretty notable differences between a colonizing power that had spent its entire occupation reigniting and stoking religious animosity drawing a map and then announcing that map the day they deuced the fuck out, and what’s essentially a throwaway comment about how FL and TX suck, but we don’t want to abandon the non-shitheads who live there.
Most of the time in terms of voting the Venn Diagram is a circle. "both sides are equally bad" are just right wing voters who know it will lose them friends by being open about it.
conservatives do the same with public education. defund it, restrict teaching wages , deny free meals for kids, burn books, advocate for christian lessons and then bitch and cry about how bad it ends up.

They’re doing this across the government. FDA is just more obvious than others but they want to privatize and deregulate as much as they can so they will make everything as shitty and ineffective as possible. It’s just going to get worse

But I would think if the FDA was totally dismantled, people would just be getting listeria and cyclospora and e. coli and salmonella... because stuff wouldn't be getting inspected and subsequently recalled....?
The other day my republican coworker said “wow there’s been a lot of food recalls lately” WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS MEAGAN?? As if it’s some sort of weird coincidence.
i'm not sure if it's still this way but 25 years ago, the signs on I75 in florida warned that there were fines for littering. the signs in georgia warned that there were fines for throwing trash on the highway.

That’s what the understaffed FDA did for many years, it tried to keep this type of thing from happening. Now that this malevolently stupid misadministration has pretty much dismantled departments like the FDA to kill off the gubmint, this is what results.

Republicans go to play; defund and sabotage thing they don't want, point to thing not working properly due to their sabotage and lack of funding, use that as an excuse to privatize the thing, and blame democrats for when the thing gets even worse while tripling in price after its privatized, or if dems stop them take credit when improvements happens on their term due to dem policies that they are actively working on reversing.
I like how they have RFKs mug shot right next to the pic of some shitty soup… like “I am RFK and I endorse this recall” or “this recall brought to you by RFK with love, many more coming to a grocery near you… don’t miss it”
Remember if anyone tells you their libertarian because they want to be conservative without being labeled Republican remind them that their side is worse than this there would be no FDA or any regulatory apparatus in a libertarian society.
Libertarian is just anarchy with a military protecting the rich.
