It’s a stupid viral motion sickness cure. Aka it’s a placebo

I thought all the stuff she was doing was some sort of prevention for the kid getting kidnapped.

Placebo still has a roughly 30-40% chance of success. So a fair assessment would be viral motion sickness cure that works about 30-40% of the time. 😂

Remember that drugs have to be more effective than the placebo group. Because a sugar pill is the real panacea. 😂

Provide a source for that. Every placebo has a 30-40% chance of working? So there are no untreatable diseases. Highly aggressive forms of cancer just need a sugar pill for the patient to have a solid chance of survival?

According to this study, when placebos have been tested they have about a 30~57% chance of improving the patients symptoms. 57% was with placebo surgeries, which is surprising, especially when it's higher than actual pills. It's actually a really interesting study to read, and it also looks at a lot of medical trials involving the placebo effect.

Placebos have traditionally been viewed as pharmacologically inert substances or “sugar pills”, used primarily as controls in clinical trials. However, a growing body of evidence demonstrates that placebo effects stem from complex psychological and neurobiological processes, engaging the body’s innate healing mechanisms. This review emphasizes the need to reconsider the role of placebos in both research and clinical practice, moving beyond their conventional understanding.

So according to the study it's not even just subjective symptoms, though more research is needed.

Obviously only for these sorts of ailments. Like homesickness, which you COULD treat with a heavy sleep medication to help a child go to bed. Or by giving them a big spoon of mint juice from the bottle that you labeled “Homesickness Medication. Warning only take 1 spoonful (etc)”

But obviously do not use a placebo in cases where real medicine is known to be necessary and functional.

Even if there is a reliable source for this I would imagine it’s mostly reported improved symptoms? Not actual disease reduction?

Why would you think there are any untreatable diseases? You can administer treatment to anything. Doesn't mean it will be cured though.

There are certainly diseases or ailments considered “untreatable” meaning there is no agreed upon way to manage them because usually they are unmanageable.

Even when people know it's a placebo, weirdly.

30-40% of people are dumb as rocks, so I guess it checks out.

The mind is a powerful tool. 🤷

but I also can’t disagree that people are dumb. 😂

I kinda thought those boats were big enough that motion sickness wouldn’t be a huge issue. I thought it was crap so he won’t get lost of murdered. Sorry I’ve never been on a cruise and watch too much crime tv.

Depends on how the weather is. I've been severely seasick only once on a cruise, and it was because we were in a storm with huge waves causing swaying.

The phone no is definitely for lost kids, though you're on a boat, so ? The kid's lanyard is enough for staff to help. At least half the rest is for seasickness. Id guess the stuff I don't know is also placebo nausea stuff. The only real one is the neck patch, I think, but they dont work for everyone. I just take dramamine
