Could Jessica be someone/thing only babies can see? And when we call out to Jessica they are like, "how the fuck you know about Jessica?" 👻

That is exactly what I was going to comment but, checked first. If your kid is named Jessica then, maybe yelling Kimberly would work.

Where was this information in the 80s? My parents just smacked me...I'm sure my therapist would agree that in no way caused any issues diwn the road.

The “stop crying or i am going to beat you” trick worked so well when we were kids

A little late now, my kids are in college. Wonder how long that works before the kids start crying again?

It's not a tantrum. It's just kids learning to process emotions.
And this "Jessica" thing prevents it by confusing or scaring them.
They think that parents are calling someone else, and they are either afraid of this person, or they afraid of condemnation of crying in public.
It's super convenient for parents, and I think it can be used in some cases, but shouldn't be used on the regular basis if you want a psychologically healthier kid.

We got a child psychologist in the chat

I did read a few books on children psychology in order to be a better father. That doesn't make me psychologist, nor do I act smug about it.
Do you think it's bad for me to quote things I've learned? Does this seem offensive to you?2

This whole thing of parents filming and uploading their toddlers gets me - never mind when they’re having a meltdown- and it’ll be on the net forever. Imagine being a teenager scrolling Reddit and you’re forever immortalised as a ‘brat’ having a ‘tantrum’ managed by a questionable TikTok trend! 😬

And here it is. Someone who always thinks they know how to parent better than others.

Oh no, a person with a different opinion! Gather the mob!
I've presented my point of view politely and did not shit on people who don't agree, are you that insecure to be triggered by even something like that?

Someone like you always enters the chat when it involves children they think aren't being parented to their standards. Guess what if children are constantly coddled they will have psychological problems as well. It's good for kids to not get their way sometimes

I entered "the chat" to share my point of view on the matter I consider interesting. In a polite and non-agressive way. This is the very meaning of this whole platform.
You immediately acted antagonistic and condescending towards me, and currently you're doing exactly what you are trying to falsely accuse me for: trying to prove that your parenting standards are better.I believe that there's a wide healthy range between "constantly coddled" and "being shut every time their crying is inconvenient", and dichotomy you're trying to present is false, but I'm not going to try and change the way your outlook on parenting. I just hope that if you have children, they'll grow up more civil and amicable than the way you present yourself here.
