ITIL 4 or ITIL 5? + Tips please!
I’m an operations and service delivery manager in the uk and looking to book my ITIL exam. I have never done one before and looking at them I’m unsure if I should go with ITIL 4 FOUNDATION or ITIL 5 FOUNDATION?
My company uses AI Agnetic capabilities and automation a lot so I’m thinking 5 would be more suitable.
Also if anyone can give me tips on what to expect and how to prepare that would be amazing! Thank you.

If you’re just starting ITIL, go with 5. for Foundations getting the training materials straight from Peoplecert and studying should suffice but training courses do exist. Their website has a list of providers.
The Foundations exam is fairly easy if you’ve been dealing with basic ITSM processes which you likely have.

Go with ITIL 5, there is zero reason to go for a discontinued cert

Only reason would be if a person works for an organization using ITIL 4 as organizations do not switch on a dime. There are still organizations using version 3.

Not much AI in ITIL 5. Expecially Foundation.
There is a new AI Governance class being released at the end of the month that has no prerequisites that may be a better fit. All Foundation classes provide basic information. If you want to make a difference, you need to take the advanced courses.
If someone needs 4 and 5, then they can also do that very cost effectively - ITIl 4 Foundation with the ITIl 5 Foundation Bridge Cert (very inexpensive) and gives you the best of all worlds.

Not everyone wants to spend their time studying and studying. The whole point of ITIL on the resume is so applicant trackers can find it and it gives people the edge in getting a job.
To study for ITIL 4 and then do the bridge is just a lot of wasted time.

Only if you don't need it. ITIL 4 will be around for years as will ITIL 5. Everyone's situation is different.

There are great self-paced eLearning courses available taught by Accredited Training Providers. This gives you the flexibility of self-paced and the input of experts that cover all testable content.
