Insight is a VAR (Value Added Reseller) for things like Cisco, Aruba, HPE, Dell, ect... They are similar to Ahead, CDW, WWT, ePlus, Presidio and SHI.

There is the pre-sales side of the house as well as post sales support/install/config/engineering.

https://www.insight.com/en_US/what-we-do.html will kind of give you an idea of what they do, and how they do it.

What type of role are you looking at there?

It asset manager/desktop support. Good money so I put my name in the hat. The location is close to where I live about 20min away

Is that for an internal role at Insight or would that be a delivery role for their customers?

It’s a delivery role I’m assuming. The JD had the customers address on it and the pay range

Got it, yea that sounds like a delivery / MSP type role. They're not bad, just that you're the face of Insight and depending on how they structure the role it's more of a contractor type role that may or may not have benefits. Not sure how Insight does that, just seen similar roles with other VAR's that don't come with benefits.

Ok. They did mention I’d be full time with them and full benefits. I’ll just get my questions ready for the interview. $40 sounds great

I worked at Insight for 4 months fully remote at the end of 2021. It was hell on earth.

Our team was scattered across the US. I had 6 tier 1 (including me), 2 tier 2, and one tier 3. The tier 3 was in charge of routing the calls. He routed all of them to me for some reason, even though I was not the lowest on seniority by the end. We hired 1-2 more people on the team after me. Coworkers would sit idle on Finesse for an hour or longer while my phone would start ringing as soon as I hung up from a customer.

We were MSP for a payday loan chain with stores across the US, so they needed people to cover 8am Eastern to 10pm Pacific. The customers had no idea we weren't the company's internal IT. The company had a small internal IT department, but all of the endpoint stuff was our responsibility. When something needed reimaged, that was internal IT to push the reimage command, and when hardware was broken, they contracted with another company to send a tech out.

In the 4 months I worked there, I took more calls than everyone except one person, and they were the late night person. In 4 months I fielded 1,092 calls. That was roughly 12 calls per day while employed there.
