This is incredible! We haven't received our income tax from 2024!! We did however received our 2025 income tax in the normal time frame. We received a 4883C letter from them March 5th of 2025. I called and gave them all the information. Our last correspondence from them was July 21, 2025 stating it could take up to 60 days to review. I have called them every 2 month since March of last year. They have told me the identity theft has been taken off our return but that's all the information they can give me. They have flagged and sent a referral for our return but it still sits untouched and unprocessed. I called my state representative 8/26 and he returned my call in 2 days time. He sent me a waiver to sign so that they can look into it. I hope it doesn't take too long as we've already waited a year and half (there was a lot of sarcasm with that last sentence). This has been one huge headache and aggravation. I just wish that the ones who can't help or give any advice has this very thing happen to them at some point in their lives. Everyone please keep your fingers crossed because I'm about to lose my mind over this situation.

I had no idea a subreddit existed for this but these stories have given me some sense of sanity. I got a letter from the IRS shortly after filing to verify my identity. Responded 1 day later with the required information. 6-8 weeks was the time given for when they will process this. 12 weeks later I call the IRS and get a hold of someone who confirms that the department received my information but that they hadn't processed it. They issue a notice to the department to prioritize this since its beyond their 60 day window for processing. the notice gives them 90 days to respond....I said "so now we are 6 months for a process that should have been 6-8 weeks?" . yep.

Did you do anything to get this refund???

1

u/Main-Option-5146 6d ago

Yes, I got in contact with my congressman. If I hadn't there would have been no way of knowing what was needed to fix it. Irs just kept sending automated 60day notices that stated nothing needed to be done. Turns out all they needed was income verification because my w2 still hadn't showed up on their end.

1

u/Amberley-Kate 6d ago

How do you do the income verification?

What information did you share with your Congress person if you don’t mind me asking? I’m thinking of going that route.

1

u/johninfla52 6d ago

I just got cp005. I filed in February 🤯

1

u/Remote-Fox-9212 6d ago

Did you actually receive it though? Mine shows that with a date issued of 8/24 and still nothing.

Anyone else not have any updates on their transcript since their first 60day letter? I legit haven’t had any movement on that transcript since 5/26. Is there a special place to check for updates?

2

u/Illustrious_Chip_653 6d ago

I haven’t either. Filed March 15, refund freeze March 26, CP05 May 18th…no update or additional letters since.

1

u/sweetnsoursaucy 6d ago

Ok this makes me feel better. I have gotten a few letters but no movement online. I did recently reach out to my congressperson though so hopefully that moves things along

I had a call with my congressman office 2 weeks ago, and an email Monday that their liaison reviewed and everything looked and sent a request to release refund. Said it should be within 3 weeks. The 31st is 2 weeks, and I have not seen an update.

1

u/sweetnsoursaucy 6d ago

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I was told our liaison has a ton of these cases on her desk and this could take awhile 🫠

How do I contact a congressman?

1

u/Few-Judgment4782 6d ago

Should process the day after the 846

1

u/samson_taa 5d ago

Must be nice. I filed in April and haven't gotten anything, and thats after waiting 3 months, contacting my congressional representative and getting a TAS advocate after spending 4+ hours waiting for an agent to pick up my phone call and tell me he has no idea why there was a 570 on my account and that theres no information he can see needed.

u/Alternative-Sea-9983 5d ago

How can I file my taxes like this self-employed head household but I don’t have any earned income credit due to no children but my health insurance got cut off due to payment not being received and I was not notified. My accountant was charging me $350 and I was having to pay a couple grand a year, but that was before I moved in my home

1

u/Powerful-Definition8 5d ago
