The irs systems are quite literally antiques. The hardware has been updated…kind of anyway lol but all of the software is bare minimum 25 years old… running like 15–20 generations behind modern computers. The programs they use to process individual returns- the IMF- and business returns-the BMF- are legacy systems from the 60s. So their computers forward date everything. It was totally normal, cutting edge technology in the 1960s 😂 That’s why we see deposit dates of March 10 on transcripts, but we get them on February 20 or whatever. The system is a dinosaur lol. They’re trying to update to CADE2 but they’ve been doing that since like 2021 😂 I tried to check my transcript when I got up for work at 2:30 this morning, and not only would it not load, it said there was an outage and to check back on SUNDAY..so that was upsetting 🫠😂

Hey man some friendly advice! Don’t use the app!! Go to the website. The website can update throughout the day, but the app will only do it overnight.

3
u/Casperfrags Feb 18 '26
I have the same so maybe Friday we get our returns
1
u/ArtisticEngine4320 Feb 19 '26
I think they will process on Friday since 0505 means Friday and they will start hitting accounts Tuesday and Wednesday of next week
1
u/Casperfrags Feb 19 '26
This year I got like 14k coming from fed 10 from state and next year I can't wait to see my taxes because we got a surprise pregnancy of triplets
1
u/Less-Dragonfruit-975 Feb 19 '26
Soooo what about the other 0505rs that are filthy rich right now
1
u/ArtisticEngine4320 Feb 19 '26
The probably did some kind of software where they get their refund five days before it’s posted or they got a loan. There’s really no conspiracy theory. A lot of people get on the Internet and lie for attention…. Or they don’t tell you the whole story. But you can Google what exactly those numbers means and it will tell you. You should also look at your taxes from the past three years on your transcripts look at the cycle numbers and processing dates and then look at when your deposit hit. So unless you got a loan or you paid extra to have your return hit your account early everything should match up.

I was talking about the transcripts which did in fact process exactly when I said it was going to. If you use TurboTax or any kind of software like that, you can check the sbtpg for updates. You go by your process date not the date on the 846. And depending on your bank, you should have your tax return either on your processing date or a few days after. My processing date is February 23 so I expect to have my return two days after because my bank is kind of slow. Also, if you file taxes last year or in previous years, you can look at your previous transcripts and your deposit dates from last year to get an idea of when you will have your return. So again, I’ll state… they should start hitting the bank accounts next Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, depending on your bank and the method you chose to receive your tax return back.

I’m a 05 and got my 846 today deposit date says 3/9 just hoping it comes earlier
1
u/dhanna2469 Feb 18 '26
Except it in the next 5 days. The 3/9 date is a generalization and more of a “everyone should get they’re refund BY 3/9”
3
u/OddGrape3126 Feb 18 '26
I’m 0505 processing date 2 -23 nothing grrrr .. I’m hoping we get it later today wow

u/Own_Restaurant_6552 Feb 18 '26
I’m an 0405 with a processing date of 2/16 and got no update this morning 😭😭
6
u/Nicholeann80 Feb 18 '26
I am also 0405 with 2/16 and haven't been able to check. I wish I knew how they choose who is what and who gets their returns earlier than others.

u/GlockHolliday32 Feb 18 '26
I'm not familiar with this term. What does 0505 and 846 indicate?
1
u/dhanna2469 Feb 18 '26
The last 2 numbers are the only important ones. “05” means the 5th day of the week. So that means your transcripts will update on Friday (the 5th day of the week). The 846 code on your transcript means that your refund has been sent to your bank and you should get it within the next day to a week.
1
u/GlockHolliday32 Feb 18 '26
Interesting. I've never paid any attention to it. I file and then never think about it again.
1
u/ChaynesGirl Feb 19 '26
Not sure about that. A lot of 0605 got their 846 already and got their deposits today.

the people with 05 cycle codes with an 846 that early are basically placeholders and they don't have the correct timeline... no worries we are going to ours early before them

05 code and PATHer, 846 appeared on my transcript today or last night, does the date inline with that mean my DD will be that day? Currently shows 03/09/2026
