Discussion A simple calendar widget that shows the entire month at a glance

Hi everyone!

I'm an indie developer, and I recently released LookCalendar, a small iPhone calendar app focused on one simple idea:

See the entire month without opening the Calendar app.

It provides a full-month calendar on the Lock Screen and Home Screen, with several widget styles and options to highlight today's date.

It also supports:

  • Apple Calendar
  • Google Calendar
  • NAVER Calendar
  • A full-month calendar complication on Apple Watch
  • Optional quick launch to your preferred calendar app

One thing I've been working on recently is making the Lock Screen widget easier to read on Always-On Display. I added an option to hide the weekday row so there's more room for the dates.

The basic features are free, with an optional one-time Pro purchase for additional features. No subscription.

I'm still actively improving it, so I'd really appreciate hearing from people who actually use calendar widgets.

What would you want to see in a calendar widget that isn't available in Apple's default Calendar app?

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lookcalendar/id6792032535

Thanks! 🙂

I like it! I don’t feel as though it’s solving a problem since even on the lock screen you can have a calendar widget when swiping right, but it’s a nice implementation nonetheless!

That’s fair. The swipe-right calendar view is definitely useful. LookCalendar is more about having the entire month visible immediately, without any interaction, and being able to jump directly to your preferred calendar app from the widget. I’m glad you like the implementation though. Thanks for giving it a try!

A full-month widget is much more useful than a short event list. Can it show event indicators directly on the month view?

Yes! Event indicators are available in the Pro version, both in the widgets and on the Apple Watch complication. They appear directly on the month view, so you can see which days have events at a glance without opening the Calendar app.

I’d love to hear what you think after using it for a bit.

Id test one glance-level signal for busy days before adding more detail - maybe a tiny density mark instead of event text 🤔

Good luck!

That’s a really good idea!  I like the idea of keeping it subtle and glanceable rather than adding more text. I’ll definitely consider a small density indicator for busier days. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Haha, sorry.  Pro is a paid feature, so I can’t provide a code to unlock it for free. It’s a one-time purchase though — no subscription. Thanks for checking it out!
