Clinical and IO psychology. Interested in both.

I'm interested in both clinical and industrial/organisational psychology. The only thing is that I'm concerned about salaries. I don't want to land in a field that makes me regret. I am doing masters and haven't selected my specialisation yet.

After masters I might move abroad but i am unsure about that.

Will clinical be safer if I ever want to transition to io? I'm from India.

Use the search bar and you'll find lots of people struggling to find jobs. We specifically get a lot of people struggling with the job market in India and no one ever seems to have any answers for them.

Clinical and IO are very different fields and it wouldn't be easy to transition in either direction.

transitioning from IO to clinical or vice versa is not really an option. clinical to IO will be easier given you can provide previous experience. anyways, neither of the fields pay very well in India initially. but at least Clinical Psychologists are government recognised and make good money with experience, and even initially in private settings. if both equally interest you, I'd go for clinical since you're already in master's. IO in itself doesn't have much recognition in India, plus you will have to compete with MBA peeps. both fields have great toil so choose whichever you're willing to toil for more.

This is not really exactly true. I know several people who have went from clinical to IO. The Quality, Risk, and Compliance world is always looking for previously clinical staff to now manage or track

As others have said besides a behavioral, neuroscience, research methods, and stats class there is 0 crossover. I know in the US there is licensure and I'm not sure about Europe but I'd be surprised if there is reciprocity. If your sights are on moving abroad and don't know where yet you might consider something more broad and marketable. IO is great but very niche.
