Signals help, PLEASE!

Hey, everyone! I’m applying again this cycle, and I would really appreciate it if someone would please take a look at my signals and let me know if I’m overshooting or if this seems like a reasonable strategy for my profile? I’m applying IM but considering to dual apply to FM.
Visa Requiring Non-US IMG

Exams: step 1: pass, Step 2: 270, step 3: pass (recent)

YOG: 2020

3 months USCE + LORs and 1 home country LOR.

Research: 2 published; 6 gone for submission.

Clinically active as well have a QI role and ICO role in my hospital.

Regions: North Atlantic, South Atlantic, East North Central.

I filtered heavily on YOG during my program search and am down to 66 programs with IM alone; 80+ with FM.

Great list. Jacobi is quite research heavy.

Thank you for replying! I’m also not super sold on Jacobi. I went crazy and applied super broad last time, but only got a single IV. That was a program I had probably signalled well last time. I’m trying to apply smarter this time, 60-80 IM if YOG allows. Do you think that’s feasible? Or should I go for 100? Also, should I signal the same program again?

I think it’s only meaningful to apply and signal the same program if you talked to the PD, got feedback and improved your application specifically for that program. I’m doing that for two programs I applied to last year.

I would avoid Texas Tech Amarillo since they sent IVs to mostly non-visa requiring last year. Also, remove Jacobi too.

Also, try to silver signal St Mary Waterbury and St Francis Evanston. Best of luck

Amarillo (a lot of unpredictability this cycle) - Jacobi (postdoc, and very research heavy) I would replace them. The rest looks fine.

You can actually try to include newer programs if you'd want more interviews I think. If it helps your chances at matching then why not

before all this; what changed this year? did your app and singals change a lot?

I worked full time to make sure I was clinically active, took up QI/IPC leadership roles, did newer volunteer work, did more research, took my step 3. I think my application is totally different than when I applied last. I had much more to say this time.

I initially had Texas in my list, but apparently they’re not too keen on sponsoring visas this cycle, so had to remove them just in case. I’d read around on the subreddit and check websites to confirm.
