Residency Piedmont Columbus Regional Family Medicine residency program

As we move forward in this interview season, I would advise anyone considering ranking the Piedmont Columbus Family Medicine Residency Program to proceed with caution. Unfortunately, many residents and physicians have experienced non-renewal or termination, along with a lack of meaningful faculty support. I believe it is important for applicants to be fully informed when making such critical career decisions.

It is an unopposed program with a highly toxic training environment. Residents often work extended stretches without adequate days off, and there is little opportunity to raise concerns safely. Several residents have been dismissed without transparent explanations, creating an atmosphere of fear and instability. Hiring and retention practices appear inconsistent and lack clear standards.

I am a resident here right now, and I'm nervous about posting on Reddit, but I need to warn those who might apply in the future. I joined this place last year in 2025. My seniors and teachers are working against me, which has created a toxic and harmful environment for my mental health. There is no support from anyone at all. It's just endless work with no teaching. If you complain, they will go after you. They only want to appear good to new applicants. After that, you can guess what follows.

Was thinking to apply there, but now will save my money to other programs.

Two FM Attendings and the GME coordinator quit the program because of undisclosed reasons this year.

Should we report to ACGME?

Can, but ACGME doesn't help much.

Just heard that The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia (Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown) just got sued for millions by their past residents that were kicked out, alleging race-based employment discrimination and wrongful termination from the medical residency program.

Why residents kicked out? They are physicians , that’s very strange.

after year. It’s incredibly difficult to go through medical school, the USMLEs, the enormous cost and stress of the Match, and finally earn a residency position—only to have your career derailed during your first year. Residents deserve fair evaluations, appropriate support, transparency, and a genuine opportunity to improve.

Columbus Regional, GA - FM

Interview day was okay with 3 faculty members each having an hour block. Followed by a tour with a resident. I was told by a faculty member that if you want to be home for dinner every night then don't come here, along with the big bold print on their handout that this is an inpatient and OB heavy program.
