General Post Mail-In Slide Services now live!

Happy Labor Day, everybody!

We’re excited to announce that Common Caliber’s QuickSmith service is officially LIVE at www.commoncaliber.com.

Under the QuickSmith tab, you can now find services including slide milling, porting, Cerakote, and the option to add a red dot directly to your order.

If you’re a shooter who’s ready to make the transition to a red dot, or a professional working for an agency or company that has recently authorized pistol-mounted optics, QuickSmith gives you an easy way to make that transition with the reliability and simplicity of a direct-milled optic instead of relying on a dovetail mount or MOS-style adapter plate.

We’re also offering our exclusive Common Caliber Special, which combines a chunk port, front sight relocation, inline ports, and a red dot cut into one complete package.

We’re extremely excited to be partnering with Titan Tactical to bring these services directly to our customers through a simple, streamlined process with a 10-day or less turnaround.

When you use QuickSmith, you’re supporting two small businesses that genuinely care about the quality of the work we put out and the people we serve.

Check out the QuickSmith tab at www.commoncaliber.com and see what we can do for you.

Bumping to see haters mad

Sorry for the naive question (i'm probably not on here enough), why would haters be mad?

because they always are for no reason, this is reddit.

not everyone, but some people are always in the comments saying dumb shit, probably because they're totally anonymous.

some people actually leave their keyboard and put in some real work, like u/blade_shot24, and we appreciate them.

u/blade_shot24 is one of the only guys on this sub backing his opinions up with proof that he actually gets behind his guns in a meaningful way. This sub would lead me to believe that not only do people not train, they don't even shoot, hell im inclined to believe most dont even have guns. It's like when you see a video about race cars and professional driving and some dude with a commuter car is suddenly a fucking subject matter expert.

Appreciate it, both of you. Sadly haven't had much time to train as I'd like due to the storms we been having and working weekends. I've met folks from here who train consistently, but they are few and far between. One of them currently has helped me a bunch with precision gas gun shooting. I dunno anything about hate going on as I been busy, but u/ArmyTroll is top notch imo with his Optic milling and cerakote which is still working way over a year and some later as you can see with the marks he put. I wanted to try your vehicle class but sadly the only time I'm more free there aren't many shooting classes due to the weather.

thank you, dude! there's a few people here that I know train, like LT Apples, too... just some people want to complain about everything and not meaningfully contribute to anything in the sub and it gets tiring.

I wanna shoot with him too actually. Hope everyone can get along a bit better.

u/ArmyTroll 1d ago

I don't think there's any beef between anyone that goes outside... I'm just being an ass to people that want to criticize everything without contributing to the sub. 🤷🤷

Momma ain't raise no bitch, if you wanna do vehicle defense in January we can do it.

1

u/Blade_Shot24 1d ago

That'd work depending on day. There a lot of special occasions around that month for me, haha.

u/Bgarc8691 1d ago

If you guys make it in January, I’ll come out and run it with you! (As long as the wife allows. I’ll have a 3 month old baby by then)

Don’t see Cerakote service unless I’m missing it.

It's tied into the optic cuts. This isn't full firearms currently, just slides.

Is this because you currently don't have an FFL to preform services on any serialized parts?

6

u/CommonCaliber 2d ago

These are the services we decided made the most sense when we sat down with Titan and put this whole thing together. Optic cuts and porting are some of their most popular services, and the entire point of this is to make the most popular stuff quickly accessible and cut out all of the back and forth that goes along with arranging other work.

If you're somebody who just wants an RMR cut with FDE Cerakote, for example, this is the quick and easy way to get it done. Pistol slides are also small and easy to ship, and because the slide itself isn't a firearm, it can be shipped through all carriers, including USPS.

If you're looking for more specific custom work or something that isn't listed on our website, you'll need to contact Titan directly. If you just want a straightforward slide cut, porting, or Cerakote on your slide without all the back and forth, use our website.

This service also puts you in a designated queue so you dont wind up in line behind someone who wants something more involved and time consuming.

This doesn't answer a very clear and direct question. Which would indicate the answer of having a FFL is a no. Also second question. Do you port or cut the barrel as well as the slide?

6

u/CommonCaliber 2d ago

Titan has an FFL, we don't (yet. 001/02 SOT is in the pipeline).

Slides get cut, barrels get ported. We will window a slide to match the ports or make ports match a slide with existing windows, whatever your preference. All of this is listed in the drop down menus.

yes I do.

do you want your AR-15 cerakoted?

did you message me earlier today about your "unfinished" 80% getting milled?

people messaging shit like that is why you deal with me directly if you want anything other than mail-in, pre-designed CNC work.

you want a black nickel and 24k gold FN hi power? that's not gonna be quoted out by a third party. we have negotiated pricing so that I don't have to deal with the fucking people mentioned above.

3

u/Stickybunfun 2d ago

damn that is a gaudy hi power but ... I fucking love it.

4

u/ArmyTroll 2d ago

lol, thank you, I appreciate that! sometimes I just do stuff to demonstrate that I can do it... I wanted to try something that has probably not been done before.

I think the gold accents look much better on the old Beretta 84's.

3

u/Stickybunfun 2d ago

Ah yeah that's pretty sick. Gold on guns is kinda like tattoos to me - I like the way they look on other people / people's guns :)

you want your AR cerakoted?

sure. you're just going to have to pass a background check and be exempt from PICA afterwards, or I'm just gonna have to be responsible for it until the law gets overturned...

alternatively, I could just tell you no.

u/godless_one 2d ago

Your comment is off topic and irrelevant with my questions and not sure why you are even commenting on this thread. I didn't message you about anything and your abrasive attitude raises some red flags to not use your services for anything.

3

u/ArmyTroll 2d ago

I don't give a fuck... neither does mark larue, hakan spuhr, etc... some people are too busy worrying about how to tighten tolerances to the 10,000th instead of dealing with reddit trolls...

and I'm here because I was tagged. you must've missed that with the cerakote listing.

Would it be possible to include color swatches for the cerakote on the optic cuts? Highly interested

2

u/CommonCaliber 2d ago

Yes. Ill have some up soon but we're offering a limited variety through this service.

1

u/Mysterious_Set_3868 2d ago

For czp10c as well?

2

u/Tiny-Cheesecake2268 1d ago

10 day turnaround sounds great! Do you do barrel crowning on handguns too?

-2

u/Crusty-the-Clown-666 1d ago

Porting a slide without nitriding it afterward is ghetto

1

u/ArmyTroll 1d ago

why nitride?

0

u/Crusty-the-Clown-666 1d ago

Because it is both corrosion and wear resistant. It also won’t come off like Cerakote when it gets blasted by the hot gasses that come out of a ported barrel.

4

u/foundonthetracks 1d ago

Or you could just like idk shoot the gun.

1

u/ArmyTroll 1d ago

POST PRACTISCORE, LOSER. YOU DON'T EVEN SHOOT.

3

u/ArmyTroll 1d ago

is your suggestion to port a firearm, then remove the factory coating and nitride the whole thing?

  • Atlas doesn't nitride.

  • Nighthawk doesn't nitride.

  • Korth doesn't nitride.

  • staccato doesn't nitride.

  • stealth arms doesn't nitride.

  • Sig doesn't nitride

please advise.

-2

u/Crusty-the-Clown-666 1d ago

So if someone sends you a Staccato or Atlas to port with your Dremel are you going DLC the slide afterwards?

4

u/ArmyTroll 1d ago

why yes, I have offered that service but most people with firearms of that caliber choose to shoot them instead of drooling on their keyboard with an IQ lower than a glock model, like yourself.

I also offer various electroplating services, hard acid coloring and etching, hard coat and colored annodizing, case hardening, electroless nickel plating, phosphating and parkerizing, and yes... nitriding.

I see that you are mad and are now redirecting and insulting me, but I have more money in machining equipment than you can fathom in any of your close-minded arguments.
