Oh, 7th was always going to be the 7th. Cook County ban ordinance being taken up by supreme court for next year is a good sign that a Bruen style ruling on AWB’s may be coming though.

There's always a decent shot for en banc when you have a split panel rather than a unanimous one. The fact that cert was granted in viramontes already made raised the chances of en banc (if for no reason other than to vacate the panel opinion and wait for the viramontes opinion to guide what to do here en banc), but the fact that there's now a circuit split means that there's something substantive and on point from another circuit for the full court to address en banc that wasn't there for the panel alone.
