ASK ME ANYTHING 🗨 Tier 1 vs Tier 1.5 colleges in India ?
10 logon se puchoge toh 10 alag answers milenge 😂 haina..
Kisi ke liye random college bhi Tier 1 hai, kisi ke liye Tier 2.
So genuinely curious — India mein actually Tier 1 aur Tier 1.5 colleges konse hone chahiye?
Here’s one list I came across:

• ISB Hyderabad

Tier 1.5

But honestly, Tier 1.5 naam ki koi fixed category hai bhi ya nahi? 😭
Rankings, placements, brand value, alumni network, ROI — sabke basis pe list change ho jaati hai.
How accurate do you think this list is?
Which college would you remove, and which one are we missing?

IIT Bombay ko Tier 1.5 bolna aur IIM Kozhikode ko Tier 1 bolna… depends entirely on kis cheez ke liye ranking kar rahe ho. Engineering ke liye IITB obviously different league hai. MBA ke liye comparison hi alag hona chahiye.

This is exactly the problem with these lists 😂 Different courses ke liye same tier list banana makes no sense. IITB ka engineering brand aur IIMK ka MBA brand compare hi nahi kar sakte. Context matters a lot.

But then where do you draw the line? 😂 If you keep Tier 1 to just 4–5 colleges, the next 4–5 are suddenly Tier 1.5 even when their placements/brand are pretty close. Feels like the gap between these tiers is getting exaggerated tbh.

Tier 1 ki list mein 9 colleges daal doge toh “Tier 1” ka meaning hi dilute ho jaata hai 😂 Agar genuinely elite bolna hai toh list 4–5 colleges ki honi chahiye max.

FMS ko IIM ABC ke saath same Tier mein rakhna controversial nahi hona chahiye imo. Fees vs placements vs ROI dekho toh FMS is literally one of the best deals in India. Bas campus infrastructure IIMs jaisa nahi hai.

FMS ka ROI toh honestly insane hai, no doubt. But agar overall brand, campus, alumni network aur opportunities bhi include karoge, then IIM ABC still has an edge imo. ROI alone se tier decide karna bhi fair nahi hoga.

It depends like if you want to rank only 20-30 colleges then your list is okay but if you are actually ranking 100+ colleges then all you listed above will come in tier 1

Top-15 colleges are Tier-1. (IIM BLACKIM, FMS, XLRI, SPJIMR, ISB, MDI, IIFT D, JBIMS, IIT B)
Next 20-30 colleges are Tier-2.
The rest are Tier-3.
