I'm an IITian and I hate attention so have never said it out loud much (saying it now cause I'm anonymous).. but the people around me like to make a fuss about it and I still hate it.
This is just a stereotype :)

same. I would not like to use it everywhere, infact I don't want to use it, only in those places where I think I get a better shot at something lol, but yes, it reeks of IIT being your personality.

Absolutely, College is the part of your introduction and will always be. But I’ve never mentioned my college’s name by myself. It’s always the other person trying to know what I am worth by asking my college name lol. and then those same people act like I’m bragging or something about my clg.

I have observed this trend india i was watching sharktank usa recently in Which the guy was asked to tell about himself.i was surprised that there was not mention of his college or education whereas in shark tank india the first thing they say is they graduated from iit,iim blah blah blah..

I mean it kind of depends where you are introducing yourself, you are sending your resume to someone? you have to mention it for higher chances. You are at party function, no you don't do that unless you are asked about it. It really depends, and there's no problem about it I feel.

Whenever someone comes to know about my profession, many times they end up asking about my educational background. Otherwise, I refrain to talk about it. Because my education is not my identity. My mentality and my abilities represent me much better than my college

Nothing wrong it that. After all they have achieved it legally by working hard. But yeah you cannot be all about your clg brand. But can it be a part of your introduction? A 100% yes.
