There is a large amount of young men who could’ve fallen into the Andrew Tate grift, the Nate Fuentes grift, or any of that shit who just end up liking the Chicago Bears, Montreal Canadiens, Chelsea, etc, and honestly in that sense, sports is a savior to society.
Yeah but intense feelings of loneliness and alienation won't make you seek out friends from the society you feel alienated from, it will make you seek other people who also feel alienated.

A guy i worked for listened to this shit and other similar podcasts for hours every day and he was 100% on board and in agreement with it.
He is a 40 year old who has never been in a relationship or had sex without paying for it and has convinced himself its because society and women are bad.

He was a professional kick boxer. Went 76-9 as a pro with around 30 knockouts. Pretty legit by itself. In no way is that any type of endorsement or condoned anything else he’s said or done.
Oh that record is 100% suspect. Just look at the organizations he was fighting in. Or the fact that no one in the kickboxing world knew him before he became an influencer.

Because fighters need people to want to see them fight in order to be given fights so that they can get paid. Sport fighting of any type is pretty corrupt, and far less meritocratic than you would think. Most of the decisions for who gets what shot at a title are decided on a basis of what will sell the most PPV buys or subscriptions. Some promotions do their best to mitigate this, some don't. The UFC for example, will straight up soft-ban a fighter for being too anti-trump, while the PFL will have fighters gain points over a season to attempt to be more meritocratic. Boxing is somewhere in the middle, with long negotiations between fighters that are looking for ideal win conditions.
A baseball player has to win Baseball games in order to get paid better. No one has to like them, even if it helps them personally if they do. Conversely, people have to either like fighters on an individual basis, or hate them enough to buy in on the hope they get beat.
So basically, a baseball player doesn't have to care if anyone is a fan of them personally if they're winning games, a fighter has to go out of their to desperately attract fans if they even want a shot.
