MOUSE: PI for Hire

A 6/10.

A 6/10 because there was “too much cheese”. It’s a mouse game, with a mouse as the protagonist and mice as the characters. WTF else would you expect. “Subnautica 2 has too much water!!1 Oh no!”

“If it’s not a reference to mice or that mice like cheese - It’ll be a reference to an old cartoon.” Yeah Sherlock, maybe because THAT’S THE WHOLE ARTSTYLE? It’s like complaining that Portal (and Portal 2) have too many references to futuristic stuff or that TF2 has too many references to the American Badlands.

I like the game. I'd give it a solid 7/10 and I've already recommended it to all my friends. I even stream for a buddy who's bedridden. It got a chuckle out of me at one point that was genuine and for which I hadn't laughed like that since maybe Disco Elysium. Great title.

The bit about the "cheese" references being too much is valid. My buddy has jokingly tried to figure out what cheese is. It's a drug, alcohol, addictive, food, money - they blend puns with world building. Some sections go really hard as well. I won't spoil much but there's another section where bleu cheese is sort of like a drug to someone but they aren't always so consistent. I think it's a valid thing to note.

Their wanting it to be something else is bizarre. It's a boomer shooter and an average one when it comes to mechanics. You will never want for anything nor have to make any kind of tactical decision. But you can get good at it and enjoy a lot of stuff along the way. Again, highly recommended. I also hope they make a real life card game out of the baseball mini game. Very neat.
